A lovely email received from a very proud parent.....

Hi, I know there have been some staff changes, but some Teachers will remember ****, who was at the school from aged 2 until Upper Sixth. She has just got a First Class Degree at the University of Reading in Environmental Science. It’s safe to say, that without the support of everyone at Highclare, we doubt this would have happened. We are so thankful for all the care and attention, not just to her education, but to her pastoral care and in moulding her into a wonderful young woman. Our thanks to everyone, but with special thanks to: Mr Coles, Mrs Sharman-Everton, Mrs Palmer, Mrs Cassell. I think everyone else who taught her at A Level has now left. I wish everyone the very best – keep up the good work.

The upcoming Year 2P class had fun during their transition morning. During an out of doors activity they had to read questions, then find out which children who could answer them. Listening was key and there was much concentration during the task. The children are very excited about their new adventure in September.

Our U11 came 3rd in their group and came 5th out of 12 teams overall. Our U90’s followed in their success and finished 4th.

Both teams worked extremely well together and gained lots of positive learning opportunities from the experience. Thank you to for hosting.

In Swans we planted lettuce seeds, We have been looking after them by watering them on dry days.
We harvested them when they had fully grown then we sent them to the school kitchen to be cleaned thoroughly.
For our snack time we all buttered our own bread and made ourselves a lettuce sandwich. If we enjoyed it, we gave it a thumbs up.

Hollie Gazzard was tragically killed 10 years ago by an abusive partner. Her parents set up the Hollie Gazzard Trust in her name in order to support young people with advice about coercive control, bystander behaviour and healthy relationships. They educate about support and reporting. We were delighted to host workshops at Senior School and to welcome ITV News to film and interview our amazing pupils who spoke eloquently about their learning. Watch out for the news broadcast in July!

Hansveer has recently achieved blue belt grading in his ‘Chongshin Do’ martial arts after an intensive 3 hour assessment. He also attended a kickboxing tournament over the weekend and successfully won his fight.

Hansveer has played in a hockey tournament recently for both under 10s and under 12s and had a busy day scoring some amazing goals for both teams.

Congratulations Hansveer!!!

U3 Humanities Trip Lichfield 2024
On Monday 17th June 2024 the Geography and Religious Studies Departments jointly organised a very successful trip to Lichfield. The students spent time learning key Geographical fieldwork skills based around Lichfield centre including surveying land use types and comparing the quality of different environments around Lichfield and investigating why people visit Lichfield.

As part of the Religious Studies curriculum of Christianity, we visited Lichfield Cathedral and had a guided tour explaining about the fascinating pilgrimage history of the Cathedral and how the Cathedral is used today.

Linking to our topic theme ‘Animal Kingdom’ the children in Reception visited the Burntwood Alpaca and Animal Experience.
They had a wonderful time meeting the animals and learning all about them.
A super day bringing our learning to life.

Swans P have been thoroughly enjoying their minibeast topic this half term. They have created spiders webs which combined sequencing numbers and fine motor threading. By using flies on a spider web we have explored early addition. They have also added different amounts of minibeasts using mathematical signs and practicing number formation. Spider sandwiches made a tasty snack one day! We have looked closely at our new class pets (caterpillars) and created their life cycle using pasta. What a busy few weeks we’ve had! #2024

Friday night we celebrated our iconic Preparatory Prize Giving at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall. We are so extremely proud of how the night went. Our pupils were incredible and the auditorium was filled with love, laughter and joy. Thank you to our parents for their support and to the staff for all of their hard work throughout the year.

Professional, individual photos will be available soon, please look out for further communication.

"We took a trip to Whitchurch on Saturday morning so Aria could take part in the Alderford triathlon. She caught the swim-bike-run bug at the ISA triathlon last month, and fancied doing another one, so we found her this event which included a lake swim for added interest. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t anywhere near as balmy as it was on that lovely day we spent in Ipswich in May, she cycled and ran in the relentless Shropshire rain with her usual determination, and finished with a smile"

We are extremely proud of you Aria! Congratulations

Fulfilling potential in everyone

When considering the education of your child, the volume of options can be daunting. As an independent school, we believe Highclare is able to offer your child much more than they would receive at a state school or grammar – from Pre-School through to Sixth Form.

At our school, the pursuit of excellence in every area of the pupil’s life is important. Not only do our superb grades reflect the outstanding teaching delivered at Highclare, but we offer a rounded programme of activities as standard to bring out the talents of every child. Each child has access to one-on-one music and LAMDA tuition with peripatetic experts, and the provision of a wide variety of extra-curricular activities to suit every interest, from ballet to environmental issues. Our philosophy of educating the whole person ensures the pupils develop their emotional and spiritual intelligence as well as their academic excellence.

Our ultimate aim is to create a warm, happy environment where children can thrive – after all, a happy child is much more likely to reach their fullest potential. Our size allows for a place where every student is known, and every student is valued – there are normally no more than 22 pupils in one class, meaning each child has individual attention, with the curriculum tailored to their needs.

This personalised care extends beyond the classroom. As well as having a Form Teacher, each pupil at Highclare Senior School is assigned a Personal Tutor upon entry to the school. This Personal Tutor will remain with them throughout their time at Highclare, meeting with them on a regular basis, and generally taking an active interest in their academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
