Four years ago on 16th March 2022, we premiered our final digital jam video which celebrated 14 wonderful years (at that time) of Birmingham Rockschool. We recorded a special medley of some of our favourite songs from 2008, which is the year that we first opened our music school. Our anniversary medley songs were Valerie by Amy Winehouse, Viva La Vida by Coldplay and Mercy by Duffy

*** TUTOR TUESDAY ***
Toré is a professional drummer with 4 years of experience, and has been teaching drum lessons at Birmingham Rockschool since January 2024. His musical upbringing mainly consists of R’n’b, Soul, Reggae and Hip-hop but he also enjoys other genres including Rock, Funk and Latin. He graduated from Academy of Contemporary Music with a bachelor of arts degree with honours (2nd). Toré has recorded at Metropolis and Grosvenor Road studios, and he currently plays drums in the band Silk Red .

Jon joined our tutor team as a guitar & bass tutor back in April 2022. He has over 20 years experience as a musician, and has performed in many bands and solo projects. As a tutor, Jon loves the opportunity to enrich young lives through music, and his goal is to share his passion and instil an appreciation for music. Jon acquired a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and Sound with optional modules in Performance and Composition at the University of West London. He has also completed a Mixing & Mastering course with Udemy, a Diploma in Singing Psychology with CPD Institute, and an Advanced Diploma in Teaching with CPD Institute.

*** TUTOR TUESDAY***
Connor is our newest tutor - he started teaching guitar lessons at Birmingham Rockschool just a couple of weeks ago. He has a love of music, especially rock and metal. His favourite bands are Blondie, Metallica, Queen and Pink Floyd, and he also loves Alice Cooper and David Bowie. Connor started playing guitar in 2018 and is mostly self taught. He has found David Gilmour of Pink Floyd and Steve Jones of the S*x Pistols to be great influences, as well as Link Wray and Joan Jett. Connor likes a wide range of genres, and has been lucky enough to see some of his favourite musicians live. He used to work as a support worker in private care, but after nearly 5 years of doing that, he eventually found himself wanting to share his passion for music with others and help them achieve the confidence and joy that comes from practicing a song until you can finally play it.
