Is it really behaviour… or could it be communication?

Not every child who appears disruptive, withdrawn or disengaged is choosing to behave that way.

Sometimes they’re struggling to:
💬 understand instructions
💬 express what they’re thinking or feeling
💬 find the words they need to communicate

Recognising these signs early can make a significant difference; not only to a child’s learning, but also to their confidence, relationships and wellbeing.

That’s why Speech & Language Essentials for Every School helps every member of staff build the confidence to recognise speech, language and communication needs early and respond with practical, classroom-ready strategies.

Because early identification changes outcomes.

Looking closely at Van Gogh’s ‘Starry night’- there are so many questions. Why do the stars swirl, as if the night itself is moving? We know he painted this from his asylum window, but was he tripping on his own turbulent mind, or capturing a deeper cosmic truth?
Below, a quiet town sleeps while a towering cypress dominates the foreground. Is this a bridge between earth and the restless heavens? Some say the Cyprus represents cemeteries and eternal mourning- is this what Van Gogh mean’t? The questions could go on and this is the power of Thinking with Art.

A strong school culture starts with children feeling safe, heard and supported. 💙

At Leybourne School, wellbeing isn’t an add-on—it’s at the heart of everything they do.

Through their work with RAW (Raising Attainment with Wellbeing), the school has created a nurturing, rights-respecting environment where every child can thrive.

Their latest pupil voice results speak for themselves:

💙 85% of pupils feel safe in school
💙 89.3% of pupils feel heard
💙 85% are encouraged to look after their emotional and mental health

When children feel safe and valued, they’re better able to learn, grow and succeed.

Discover how RAW can help your school build a culture where wellbeing and attainment go hand in hand.

Training shouldn’t end after one afternoon.

Professional development is most effective when staff can revisit learning, build confidence over time and access support exactly when they need it.

That’s why Speech & Language Essentials for Every School is designed as an ongoing professional learning resource, not just a one-off training session.

✨Learn at your own pace
✨Revisit key topics throughout the year
✨Support new and existing staff
✨Build confidence across your whole school

Because great teaching develops over time.

Sometimes the smallest changes have the biggest impact.

Giving pupils a few extra seconds to think before expecting an answer can help reduce pressure, encourage participation and build confidence.

This is just one example of the practical, neuro-affirming strategies explored in our new professional learning programme, Inclusive Practice in Autism and Neurodiversity.

Launching October 2026.

Every school has challenges. What matters is how you respond.

At North Mead Academy, a whole-school focus on wellbeing, relationships and Emotion Coaching helped create meaningful change for pupils, staff and families.

From improved attendance to reduced persistent absenteeism and stronger outcomes, this case study shows what’s possible when wellbeing becomes part of everyday practice.

When you look at Casper David Friedrich’s ‘Wanderer above the Sea of Fog’ (c1818) do you see a figure of triumph or isolation? Art doesn’t give us answers, it asks us questions. What do you see in the fog? 🌫️

Inclusive practice isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing things differently.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that supporting neurodiverse learners means creating completely different lessons for every individual.

In reality, small, thoughtful adjustments to classroom practice can benefit many learners while creating a more inclusive environment for everyone.

Our new professional learning programme, Inclusive Practice in Autism and Neurodiversity, has been developed to help educators turn understanding into practical, neuro-affirming strategies they can use with confidence.

Launching October 2026.

What myths or misconceptions do you think still exist around neurodiversity in education? We’d love to hear your thoughts below. 👇
