A small gesture to say a big thank you.

As we head into the Easter break, we took a moment today to recognise the incredible hard work of both our staff and students with a few well-deserved treats.

At Heartlands, it’s the everyday habits that make the difference — the consistency, the commitment, the high expectations, and the care we show one another. This term has been a real reflection of that: calm, purposeful, and driven by a shared ambition to succeed.

Moments like this matter. They remind us that culture isn’t built in big events alone, but in the small, intentional actions that say: we see you, we value you, and we appreciate what you do.

Today we hosted our first RISE Open Day at E-ACT Heartlands Academy, focusing on culture and the intelligent use of data to drive improvement.

It was a pleasure to welcome colleagues from other schools and share some of the work we are doing at Heartlands. We are unapologetic in our pursuit of academic excellence, and we believe that strong culture and clear strategy must work hand in hand if we are to truly improve life chances for the young people we serve.

What made me most proud today was not the presentations or the discussions about data — it was seeing our students and staff in action. Visitors commented on the warm welcome they received from the moment they arrived, the politeness and pride of our students, and the strong sense of collective purpose across the academy.

One message we received afterwards captured it perfectly:

“As you walked around you could sense a united purpose by all the staff. You have clearly embedded a team ethic.”

This is what culture looks like in practice. When everyone is aligned behind the same moral purpose — empowering dreams and providing the very best education for our students.

A huge thank you to Mr Machin and , Mr Lisbie and the wider Heartlands team for helping make the day such a success, and to our visitors who came with open minds and a shared commitment to improving outcomes for young people.

We look forward to continuing to work together across the E-ACT family and beyond.

Brilliant Club Scholars at Oxford University
We are incredibly proud of our Brilliant Club scholars who travelled to Oxford University to present their final projects and experience life at one of the world’s most prestigious universities.

Standing in such an iconic academic setting, our students spoke with confidence, shared their research, and demonstrated the ambition, resilience, and determination that define Heartlands Academy.

Opportunities like this broaden horizons, raise aspirations, and show our young people that they belong in spaces of excellence.

A huge thank you to The Brilliant Club for creating pathways that empower dreams and open doors to future success.
