Last week’s ’Voice of Our Community‘ event at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire brought together the friends, families and communities of the many amazing performers we work with across the year.

You may have seen the article by Classic FM last week about our exciting new programme. It’s now been a week since the official launch of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire RBC St Benedict’s Primary School of Music. We cannot wait to provide 2 years of music opportunities to all students at the school and the local community!
Here’s a video of our first ever visit to the school where we announced our partnership to pupils and staff through a series of surprise flashmobs and whole school concerts.

We are so excited to announce Coventry Music's Soundlab will be performing at Godiva on the Next Stage on Sunday 7th of July!
SoundLab is a centre for creative music making in partnership with Coventry Music, Coventry University and Positive Youth Foundation.
The vision is to create a space for all young people to be creative in their music-making, whilst seeking diversity in musical genre, pathway to music instruments, vocal styles and culture.
Removing the barriers to enable all who wish to engage the opportunity to do so. SoundLab-Cov is for 10-16 year olds, who have a range of musical interests and styles including spoken word, dance, electronic, jazz, classical and more.

350 primary school pupils are being ‘taught how to read and write music in six months’ A groundbreaking programme that aims to teach primary school pupils how to read and write music within six months has been launched by the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

350 primary school pupils are being ‘taught how to read and write music in six months’ A groundbreaking programme that aims to teach primary school pupils how to read and write music within six months has been launched by the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Year 6 students from 6 schools across Birmingham were invited to watch Hansel and Gretel in Royal Birmingham Conservatoire's Bradshaw Hall. For many, this was their first live opera they have ever had the opportunity to watch.

Tonight marks the end of our Double Reed Roadshow. Last stop… Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust - NMPAT !!!
After a series of warm ups, masterclasses and instrument-specific ensembles, we all came together to play a double reed ensemble arrangement of ‘The Sun Has Got His Hat On’, arranged by Anna Cooper.

Last night marked the first time our BRAND NEW RBC LEAP Schools Ensemble came together to rehearse and take part in some outreach-based improvisation training.
The RBC LEAP Schools Ensemble consists of 1st and 2nd year students studying at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, with training and support from the Learning and Participation team and current RBC LEAP Ensemble members.
We have a lot of exciting projects coming up with this ensemble. Watch this space…!
Last night, Soundlabbers were busy rehearsing 'Sing' by Pentatonics for the 'Voices of Our Community' Concert on Tuesday 25th June. We can't wait to see what else they have up their sleeves!

CORE Education Trust COREus wowed everyone at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with a powerful 30 minute performance in the foyer.
Staff, students and visitors were treated to a varied programme including Michael Jackson’s ‘Man in the Mirror’ and Colbie Caillat’s ‘Try’.
We cannot wait to invite them back for more performances in the future!



Our last date of the LEAP ensemble tour this season! Alongside amazing young musicians from Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust - NMPAT!

Last night, staff and students from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire visited Berkshire Music Trust for their first ever double reed event. Students took part in a variety of ensembles and masterclasses, culminating in a massed bassoon, oboe and cor anglais ensemble!

We love to give our students opportunities to work alongside young musicians and gain experience in the music education sector. Our students loved working with the fab musicians from Thomas Estley Community College. Can’t wait to work with them again in a few weeks time!

What a fantastic partnership we have with Orchestras for All and this time round we are also incorporating young members of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire supported CORE Education Trust COREus! So amazing to have this many young people using our facilities and RBC alumni in the teaching team!

Our spring residential with National for All (NOFA) is in full swing as its inspiring young members – who join us from all across the UK – get stuck in to a fun and jam-packed programme of musical activities. 🎻 🎶
From relaxing rise and shine sessions to dynamic group rehearsals, pizza parties to quiz evenings, NOFA musicians are fully embracing the joy of performing and camaraderie. 🍕 🌟

What a fantastic weekend on tour with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire LEAP Ensemble delivering with 170 young musicians in Gloucestershire Music and Lancashire Music Hub! Next stops Guildhall Young Artists Norwich & Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust - NMPAT.

RBC LEAP Young Singers is a diverse group of singers who meet at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire to sing and to have fun.
This summer, we are working towards a concert on the 25th June in the Bradshaw hall at RBC and we want you to join us!!
Led by Alumni Susie Webb and accompanied by a professional band the Young Singers will be part of our annual celebration of work.

Today we had a lot of fun visiting St Benedict’s Primary School in Small Heath to perform an interactive concert with the whole school. Was great to see a school committed to developing and improving their musical offer and we’re excited about working with them in future. They have already committed to buying some lovely new instruments with support from

Friday was filming day for a resource for an interactive piece commissioned for RBC LEAP Ensemble to perform with Leicestershire Primary Schools and at in April. The short film has been filmed by and features the fabulous .

We’ve had a great time making a ‘band in a day’ at CORE JQ Academy!
Year 9 music students have been busy making music, writing lyrics and creating their own music tracks inspired by their favourite music and artists.
