Our Aston University MSc pharmacy students recently had the opportunity to visit , a company at the forefront of combining cutting-edge engineering with the latest developments in data analytics and AI.
By combing these elements, we begin to understand the world with absolute precision, from biomolecule structures to quantum dots. Our students had a unique experience of hearing from the experts and touring the facilities that Malvern Panalytical uses to solve real-world problems with applied sciences.

More submissions from our mental health awareness photo competition! The focus this year is movement. Movement is key for our mental health. But so many of us struggle to move enough. We know there are many different reasons for this, so this week we want to help people to find moments for movement in their daily routines.
I love movement
I have ADHD and I am hyperactive so I’m usually moving around even if I’m sitting still! I’m also autistic and movement is SO important to me. I have lots of repetitive movements that I do to soothe me when I’m overwhelmed and there are also lots of movements I do just because they feel good, which makes me feel happy! When I started going through the perimenopause I was suddenly unable to cope with life the way I had done previously and in a quest to find a weight bearing exercise that I could do for more than a day (I’m very easily bored!) I discovered pole and aerial. Spinning and tumbling upside down has now become essential not only to my physical wellbeing but to my mental wellbeing! I do pole, aerial silks, lyra hoop and trapeze. This is a photo of me tumbling through the air in an aerial silks lesson. Just looking at it makes me feel giddy. I like feeling giddy! 😊
Water and swimming
Water and swimming is my escape and thinking space: when I hit the sweet spot of moving in unison with the power of the sea I am in my special place.
Connection and movement
This photograph captures the essence of our cherished pastime, where every ride becomes a testament to the profound healing power of connection and movement in nurturing our mental well-being
powerful in unity
I have chosen this photo because as these dolphins leap in harmony, so do we when we exercise together. Exercising as a team fuels my motivation.
Gardening through the ages
Keep on moving
Walking feet
Watching the water flow, resting the walking feet

The movement of time
The stone buildings acting as a sort of sundial; the more modern apartment blocks silhouetted in the background. There’s a sense of calm. Just passing through (on holiday).
Theatre
The theatre makes me happy!

Have a look at the top 5 submissions for the Mental Health Awareness week photo competition, with a focus on movement. If you have a photo that represents movement to you – it could be you moving, it could represent what moving means to you, it could be a picture of your favourite activity, or might portray how movementmakes you feel - send it over and we will share on our story this week!
We will be posting the rest of our submissions tomorrow, so keep a look our for more posts!
1. Malverns
Walking in the hills reminds me of how grateful I am for being able to move, for the beautiful natural world and for no screens and no rain!
2. Bandu
Please meet 'Bandu', soaking up the sun and spreading his wings in our garden. Our free-flying sun conure brings joy and serenity to our family, making every 'walk' a cherished moment of mental wellbeing.
3. Dancing
This photo was taken during a very difficult period of my life. I am dancing under the rain, amidst winter's cold and the wind, feeling freedom and happiness in the moment, and promising myself to experience more of these amazing moments in the future. I feel ALIVE here. What helped me move forward during this personal crisis was filling myself with positivity, taking each step one at a time, and embracing new active hobbies, one of which is dancing. I have always been very shy about dancing, but around 2 years ago, I discovered dance again for its joy, the wonderful feelings it brings, and the sense of freedom it offers. It's one of the ways I choose to experience emotions in a positive light.
4. Bakewell on a bike
I cycled for 150km, with 1800m of ascent and burned 5000 calories.
5. Malvern Hills
We love to walk up the Malvern hills (movement) but once at a summit we also like to take a moment to enjoy the view (my son is convinced he can see our house and his nursery from up there 😅)
