🤎 When mud becomes a masterpiece…

Our children have been getting wonderfully messy as they explored mud painting using sticks and cardboard!

They mixed soil with water and watched with curiosity as the texture changed, before using their sticks to make marks and create their own muddy masterpieces.

It was a simple activity that offered so much to explore, from sensory discovery and changing textures to mark making and creative expression. And judging by how long they stayed engrossed, it was clearly a big hit! 🌿

🌿 Little hands, growing responsibilities 🦉

Our Wise Owls have been busy getting their green fingers going as they plant their very own herbs and care for their growing plants.

From watering them each day to watching them grow, the children are learning that even the smallest actions can make a big difference. It gives them a wonderful sense of pride and ownership as they take responsibility for something they have helped to create.

There’s something very special about watching children nurture, care and grow together. 💚

🥕 The best conversations often happen around the table.

Cooking is a regular part of nursery life at Busy Bears, giving children the chance to prepare simple recipes, try new foods and discover where ingredients come from. It's messy, exciting and always worth it when everyone sits down to enjoy what they've made together.

🌿 The Wise Owls have been getting creative in the Forest School at Busy Bears!

Using sticks, wood chippings, water and mud, they gathered natural resources to create their own ‘spicy tea’ and make pretend meals for each other. 🥣

They also explored cinnamon, mixed spice, mint, paprika and turmeric using their senses, noticing the differences in colour, texture and smell as they experimented with mixing them together.

A lovely sensory experience that encouraged curiosity, imagination and plenty of opportunities for conversation and discovery! 🦉

The Wise Owls have had a brilliant day full of learning, creativity and important conversations! 🦉✨

They've been learning all about the people who help us, including doctors, nurses, dentists, firefighters and police officers. This led to a valuable conversation about who our ‘safe people’ are and who we can go to if we are ever lost or need help. 💛

They've also explored an ‘Ocean Clean Up’ activity, learning about recycling and why we need to reduce, reuse and recycle to help protect the animals and world around us. 🌊

To finish the day, the children have been celebrating Puppet Play Month by putting on their own puppet shows using a homemade stage, finger puppets and puppets they've made themselves. They created their own stories and proudly shared their ideas with others. 🎭

So much learning, imagination and confidence packed into one brilliant day!

The Hedgehogs at Busy Bears have been preparing and serving their own tea! 🥔✨

They chose their potato, decided which toppings they would like and assembled their own plates, giving them the opportunity to make choices and experience the independence of doing things for themselves.

Along the way, they explored food groups and developed their mathematical skills and language as they talked about different amounts, using words such as ‘more’ and ‘less’. 💛

🎨 An empty canvas can become absolutely anything in the hands of a child.

Our dedicated art studio is a place where imaginations run wild. Painting, printing, sculpting and experimenting with different materials allows children to express themselves freely while creating something they're proud to take home.

🌈 A Colourful Week at Busy Bears!

Children in all rooms have been exploring colour through play this week.

We’ve had colour matching with bowls, tweezers and resources gathered from around their rooms, while Squirrels explored Colour Monsters and learned colour names as they practised mirroring simple emotions.

The children also got creative in the Expressive Arts Area with paints, feathers, matchsticks and dabbers. They ran vehicles through paint and explored colour mixing as they mixed colours together.

We’ve had sensory soup with colourful water play, where the children practised mixing, scooping and pouring. We’ve also explored ice play and tweezers, as the children used the tweezers to free objects ‘trapped’ under the tape web.

Finally, we explored loose parts play as children sourced objects from around the room and experimented with new ways to use them.

A brilliant and colourful week of exploring, creating and learning through play! 🌈💚
