Children flourish at Water Mill because we combine academic rigour with a deep commitment to personal development. This is another great example of that in action:
Throughout this year, our Year 5 pupils have been working with University of Birmingham students on a series of ‘Taskmaster’-style challenges, developing their leadership, presentation, listening and teamwork skills (drawn from our Owlstanding Skills Framework).
External judges reviewed their final submissions and selected one team to attend the national semi-finals at Kenilworth Castle. The children had a fantastic time competing with schools from across the country.
Through activities ranging from disguising a biscuit to debating cannibalism, they demonstrated these skills exceptionally well. Out of all the schools present, they came third — an outstanding achievement.
We are incredibly proud of their effort, teamwork and determination.
Well done, Water Mill!

Year 4 have had a wonderful first day at Dodford Farm today. They have played in the sunshine, fed the animals, taken part in team games, and toasted marshmallows on the campfire. They’re now all tucked up in bed, ready for a good night’s sleep 😴

We are incredibly proud to be selected to host head teachers from Brussels today.
They came to see how we embed creativity and effective talk into our curriculum but left praising the amazing pupils and staff (and Django)!
Well Done Water Mill!

The sun truly shone over Water Mill today for our whole-school Spring Concert ☀️
A huge thank you to our brilliant families for your fantastic support—it made all the difference.
And didn’t the children do incredibly well? We are so proud of every single one of them.
Events like this simply wouldn’t be possible without the drive, dedication, and determination of our amazing teaching staff.
What a special day for our school community
