🌱 There is something very satisfying about growing something yourself and then seeing it become part of your day.

At Merryvale, children have access to the nursery's allotment where they can plant, grow and discover how things change with the seasons. Some of the vegetables they grow can even make their way into cooking experiences, helping children see the journey from soil to plate for themselves.

From leftover carrots to Forest School soup! 🥕🌲

Our little chefs have been busy in the Forest School, turning our leftover carrots into a delicious pot of carrot soup!

Using ingredients that might otherwise have gone to waste, the children enjoyed getting hands on with nature, exploring how food can be prepared and making the most of our outdoor environment.

A little bit of chopping, stirring and plenty of imaginative play made for a wonderful Forest School experience! 💚

The Tiger Who Came to Tea… Forest School style! 🐯🌲

Today, our Badgers and Owls enjoyed creating their very own Forest School tea party, inspired by the much loved story The Tiger Who Came to Tea.

Using natural materials they found around them, the children got creative with mud, bark, water and beautiful petals. They used their imaginations to make flower soup, mud tea and even some delicious looking Forest School cupcakes! 🌸

It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to enjoy imaginative play, explore natural materials and develop a variety of skills while having lots of fun outdoors.

Our little bakers have been busy! 🧁🦔

Our Hedgehogs have had a lovely day getting creative with playdough, using their imaginations to make their very own cakes!

From squishing and shaping to choosing their colours and creating their own designs, playdough is a wonderful way for little ones to explore their creativity while developing those all important fine motor skills.

We think their playdough cakes look good enough to eat! 💛

A Little Bubble Magic 🫧

During Forest School at Merryvale, our children explored bubbles through hands-on play, experimenting with water, spoons and different resources to see what they could create.

It was a simple experience that sparked plenty of curiosity, exploration and fun. 💚

💛 Before children are ready to thrive in a classroom, they need opportunities to build friendships, express themselves and develop confidence in their own abilities.

That is where nursery can make a real difference, providing a supportive environment that helps children grow emotionally, socially and academically.
