British Early Childhood Education Research Association Next conference: 17th February 2025 We do this through an annual conference where research is presented and subjected to peer-review.

The British Early Childhood Education Research Association, or BECERA, is an independent organisation for those early childhood practitioners, researchers and practitioner researchers working in the British Isles who want a space to meet, enquire and discuss issues relevant to their work with young children and families. We aim to stimulate, support, create and disseminate rigorous, grounded and conceptual knowledge and its applications to our early childhood services. The knowledge and presentations generated from each conference are made available in an online, searchable database.

Dr Bonetti is an independent researcher advocating on behalf of children and families within government, non-profit and research institutions, and is a visiting Scholar at Middlesex University.

The call for papers for our 17th annual BECERA Conference is now open. We are calling early years practitioners, researchers and students to submit their proposals and present their research at our Birmingham event on 16th February 2027.

Why submit and present?

Whether you are an experienced researcher, an early career researcher or a student, there is a place for you at BECERA to share your research and work with young children and families that contributes to our collective thinking and the wider early childhood debate.

All submitted abstracts are reviewed by our scientific committee which not only screens for the quality of your research but also provides helpful notes to improve abstract writing.

Sharing your research provides an opportunity not only to present your findings, but to also, through the eyes of others, see it in a new way. New perspectives and interpretations can deepen and develop your enquiry further.

Through presentation, discussion and reflection, your research plays an important role in expanding our knowledge and informing our practice. More information - link in comments.

"Attending the BECERA conference as a student was a really valuable and motivating experience for me. It allowed me to engage with current research in early childhood education and to see how theory, policy and practice connect in meaningful ways. A key highlight of the day was the opportunity to network with other students, researchers and practitioners from different corners of the world, which helped me to build confidence in discussing my own interests and to gain insight into different career and research pathways within the sector. Listening to experienced professionals encouraged me to reflect more critically on my studies and reinforced the importance of reflective practice in my development as a future teacher.
