Industry Week has arrived for our Level 4 Acting students! 🎭

Our Acting students have been getting an exciting insight into the professional industry, with a packed programme of sessions, Q&As and industry expertise.

🎬 They’ve taken part in:
• A Q&A with Equity
• A Q&A with Spotlight

The industry panel featured:
🎙️ Marc Silk – Voice Actor, known for Star Wars, Pingu, Bob the Builder and more
🎥 Danny Milwain – Actor and Producer, with credits including Peaky Blinders
🎬 Rico Johnson-Sinclair – Director and Film Producer at Warner Bros.

From understanding the realities of working as a professional actor to hearing directly from those working across film, television and theatre, it’s been a fantastic opportunity for our students to connect with the industry and build their knowledge of what it takes to forge a career in the creative industries.

What an afternoon! 💙⚽

Yesterday, we were delighted to take some of our Year 13 and Year 14 students to Birmingham City FC for an exciting meeting about the opportunities ahead.

It’s an incredibly exciting time for the club, with so much happening across this part of the city, and we’re proud to be part of that journey.

As part of this new collaboration, our students will be working with Birmingham City FC to create content across both short- and long-form formats — giving them the opportunity to work on a live, industry-facing project with a major sporting organisation.

From developing ideas to creating content for a real audience, this is exactly the kind of hands-on experience that helps our students take their next steps into the creative industries. 🎬

We can’t wait to see what they create and where this collaboration takes us! 🚀

Our Year 12 Make-Up students have been getting hands-on with a range of exciting creative techniques as part of their induction! 🎨✨

From intricate texture body painting and hand casting to developing texture tiles and moodboards, students have been exploring the foundations of special effects, design, and artistic research while developing their practical skills and creativity.

We can't wait to see how these talented students continue to grow throughout the year at BOA Stage & Screen Production Academy! 🌟

🎬 Calling all young filmmakers!

Applications are now open for Film & Screen Saturday Club 2026/27 at MAC — and it’s completely FREE! 🎥✨

If you’re aged 13–16 and interested in filmmaking, storytelling, photography, digital media or the world of film and screen, this is your chance to get creative, learn new skills and make films alongside other young people.

🌟 Get hands-on filmmaking experience
🎬 Create your own short films
🤝 Collaborate on a group film
💡 Build confidence and creative skills
🎥 Explore careers in the screen industries
🏆 Take part in National Saturday Club events and masterclasses

This year, the club will explore myths, heroes and legends, using The Hero’s Journey as inspiration for original filmmaking projects.

The programme starts Saturday 26 September with a special family welcome morning at MAC.

🎭 STAGE DEPARTMENT INDUCTION!

Our new Stage Department cohort have gone straight into practical skills development over the last week with their induction projects!

💡 Lighting & Sound – Programming and operating a lighting & sound show
💄 Hair & Make-Up – Camouflage body art, texture boards, hand casting & character creations
🧵 Set, Props & Costume – Creating scale figures from 2D designs using recycled materials

We ended the week with our Induction Exhibition – stay tuned for photos!

We can’t wait to see what this new cohort goes on to create and achieve!

Creativity doesn't need a big budget! 🎥

Our Level 4 Filmmaking learners recently took on the challenge of shooting a short sequence on their phones, telling a story with no dialogue in five shots or fewer.

A fantastic exercise in visual storytelling, planning and creative problem-solving. 👏
