✨ Every child’s toileting journey is different, and that’s exactly why I tailor my support to the individual child and family. ✨

I’m always incredibly grateful when parents take the time to share their experiences after working with me. Testimonials like this are a reminder that with the right approach, even challenges that have felt overwhelming for months—or years—can begin to improve.

Whether your child is:
🚽 Struggling to poo in the potty or toilet
😟 Experiencing toileting anxiety or fear around pooing
👶 Finding it difficult to transition from nappies to the toilet
🧻 Withholding stools or avoiding pooing altogether
🌟 Older and still needing support with toileting confidence

I work with children at every stage of their toileting journey.

My approach focuses on understanding why the difficulty is happening, reducing pressure, building confidence, and creating practical strategies that work in real family life. Every child is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution.

If you’re feeling stuck, frustrated, or unsure what to do next, support is available. ❤️

POV: You’re a withholder parent trying not to hover while your child is on the toilet… 👀🚽

You promised yourself you’d give them space.

You said you wouldn’t ask if they were pooing.

You definitely weren’t going to stand outside the door listening for clues…

And yet somehow your head keeps appearing every 30 seconds. 😂

If you’ve spent months (or years) supporting a child with stool withholding, you’ll know that every toilet sit can feel significant. It’s completely understandable to be curious, hopeful, and just a tiny bit impatient for updates!

🤔 When parents are told their child is withholding because they’re constipated, it can feel confusing when the withholding continues despite treatment.

💡 That’s because stool withholding is a behaviour, not a diagnosis.

💩 While constipation can play a role, many children begin withholding after developing a negative association with pooing. It may have been painful, uncomfortable, frightening, or simply something they wanted to avoid.

🔄 Over time, withholding can become a learnt response that persists even when stools are softer and easier to pass.

✨ Understanding the difference is key because lasting progress often requires addressing both the physical and behavioural aspects of withholding.

If you’re parenting a child who withholds poo, you’ve probably heard them all…

“Have you tried prunes?”
“What about more water?”
“Maybe they just need more exercise?”
“Have you tried sitting them on the toilet after meals?”

Most people mean well, and they’re genuinely trying to help. But when you’ve been living and breathing withholding for months (or even years), chances are you’ve already tried every prune, pear, toilet routine and reward chart under the sun. 😅

Withholding is so much more complex than many people realise, which can make it incredibly isolating when you’re constantly explaining why the usual advice isn’t working.

If this sounds familiar, know that you’re not alone. There are plenty of parents here who get it and understand that withholding isn’t solved by a few extra prunes.

What’s the most common piece of advice you hear? 👇

Withholding can happen at any stage of a child’s toilet journey — before potty training, during it, or long after they’re considered “trained.” It can feel confusing, stressful, and incredibly isolating for parents trying to help their child.

My consultations are designed to help you understand why your child is withholding, reduce fear and anxiety around pooing, and give you practical, supportive strategies that actually work in real life. 💙

If you’re feeling stuck, frustrated, or unsure where to start, support is available.

One of the hardest parts of supporting a child with stool withholding is how misunderstood it can feel 🤍

You become used to explaining that this isn’t just a child “being stubborn” or needing a reminder to sit on the toilet. Meanwhile you’re also listening to endless suggestions about more water, more fruit, prunes, exercise, or “just stopping nappies.”

Most parents supporting a withholder have already tried ALL of those things.

Stool withholding is often a complex cycle involving fear, pain, anxiety, body signals, learned behaviours and muscle patterns. It can feel exhausting constantly trying to explain that to people who thankfully have never had to experience it themselves.

Who can relate?! 👀

If you’re navigating this right now, you’ve got a community here that truly understands 🤍 You are definitely not the only family going through it.
