We're a charity dedicated to our vision of life, free from serious accidental injury.

RoSPA aims to improve safety in all areas of life, without putting unnecessary restrictions on people's freedom. We believe that people should be given as much information as possible about the risks they may face, to enable them to undertake activities safely - rather than simply stopping people from taking risks at all.

Before you power up that mower or strimmer… stop and check.

Damaged garden equipment can lead to serious injury - but a quick inspection could prevent it. From worn cables to loose parts, small faults can become big risks fast.

- Use a residual current device (RCD) with electrical tools
-️ Never use equipment that looks damaged or electricals that are wet
-️ Store tools properly to keep them in good condition.

We’re proud to be supporting Rear Face for Safety - a new national campaign launching today during Child Safety Week to help better protect children on UK roads.

The campaign is encouraging parents to keep children rear-facing until at least four-years-old - and preferably longer where possible - supported by evidence showing children are up to 5X safer travelling rear-facing than forward-facing.

Rear Face for Safety brings together organisations and experts from across road safety, policing, child injury prevention, public health and academia, alongside Swedish child road safety experts who have helped make Sweden one of the safest countries in the world for children on the road.

Health and safety training should drive lasting behavioural change — not just tick a box.
In this clip, Pam explains how in‑company training can help organisations:
• Tailor learning to the workplace
• Encourage open, honest conversations around safety
• Build a stronger safety culture across teams

If you’re reviewing your training approach; consider whether in-company training could deliver greater impact. From Safety Reps to Accident Investigation and IOSH Managing Safely to the NEBOSH General Certificate and Diploma, many of our courses can be delivered in-company.

🍔Thinking of having a barbecue this weekend?

Before you get started, make sure you’re fully prepared so you don’t have to ‘wing it’ and risk compromising safety.

- Check your barbecue is in good condition after winter storage
- Buy suitable charcoal and fire starters
- Use long handled tools to keep a safe distance from the heat.

Half term and hot weather can often see families heading to the water 🌞💧

But while it’s great for cooling off, water can be unpredictable. Around half of all drowning deaths happen during the summer months – even in places close to home.

Stay safe this half term:

✅ Choose lifeguarded swim spots
✅ Don’t mix alcohol and swimming
✅ Know the risks – cold water shock can affect anyone
✅ If you’re in trouble, float on your back and call for help
✅ In an emergency, call 999

Rivers, lakes and beaches may look safe – but staying aware can save lives.

🚑 Did you know hundreds of children suffer serious burns from barbecues every year?

That’s why it’s so important to always have a responsible adult watching the barbecue, both while it’s in use and while it’s cooling down.

Stay present, stay safe, and enjoy every moment outdoors.
