Today for Worklink Skills for Success we're showing you the difference between hard and soft skills. A successful application will have a combination of both of these kinds of skills, as both are equally important for being successful in your job.

Don't worry if you don't have many relevant hard skills yet, provide as many examples as you can, and weight your focus more toward soft skills. It is also important to include examples of times when you have used these skills. This will make your application stand out from the crowd!

We're back with another Worklink Skills for Success! This time it's Communication! ๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿ“ข

No matter what kind of job you have, you will almost certainly have to use communication skills. This could be customer facing, with managers, colleagues, corporate representatives, or brands. Every type of stakeholder will require a different kind of communication, so knowing how to interact with people in different contexts is vital for success. It is important that you display a range of knowledge about this in your CV, application, and interview.

Time to handle some pressure like the master himself!

Here's some Worklink tips on conquering pressure!

Working in a fast-moving environment can be very stressful. But handling it says a lot about your personality. Do not be a quitter and focus on the most urgent task first and work your way from there. Take it one little bit at a time.

If you have previous work experience in a restaurant, talk about the high demands and how you stayed focus and worked quickly to juggle orders one at a time. Mention how you had to ask for help, work overtime and manage your time well!

Take it from us as we are always handling calls, setting up assignments and helping students-all at the same time! ๐Ÿ˜ฐ But we have each other, and work it all out as a team!

Watch how James Bond handles pressure in No Time To Die- out in cinemas TODAY!

Next up from our Worklink Skills Series is... Teamwork!

Nearly all jobs will involve you working in some kind of team, so adaptability in a group work environment is a vital skill to be able to show in an application and at interview. There are many kinds of examples you can use to demonstrate teamwork, don't be afraid to use examples from outside of a professional environment if you don't have much work experience - displaying your skills can come in many forms!

Continuing the Worklink Skills Series with *drum rolls* ...Organisational Skills! ๐Ÿ“† ๐Ÿ“… ๐Ÿ““ โฐ

It's always helpful to plan ahead before an interview. Do some research on the company, find out who you will be working for and find their personal profiles on Instagram ๐Ÿ˜€! Wait, no! That's a bit too far...

If the interviewer asks you 'how do you manage your workload?' How about talking about a to-do list- which is always useful and will help you to set your own goals, manage your time, work to deadlines and reach your targets. Remember to say how you always prioritise your workload from lowest to highest priority/urgency! Well, at least that's what our Joe does. ๐Ÿค—

Let's go get organised!

Welcome to the Worklink Skills Series where we'll be sharing key skills and how to improve them so that you can become more employable! โš™๏ธ๐Ÿ’ญ

We're starting with Equality, Diversity and Inclusion - perhaps not strictly a "skill", but something you should absolutely bring with you into work as part of your personal toolkit! EDI is so important for maintaining healthy working relationships and it helps to create a safe, respectful working atmosphere for you and your colleagues. This gives you all the best environment to utilise all your other skills most effectively. Displaying a keen interest in EDI on your application can inform employers that you are well-suited to the working environment that they want to create, and that you'll be able to interact with all business stakeholders respectfully. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’ผ๐ŸŒˆ

If this is one of your skills, don't be scared to highlight it on your CV! And if you're already employed, make sure you bring EDI principles into all the work that you do!
