How can you get equipped for the UCAT?
Hi! My name is Sumayyah and I'm behind Brainy Student. In our 1-to-1 UCAT Mentoring sessions, we explore a range of UCAT methods for the many different questions which you will face. There are two stages to my UCAT mentoring.
In the first stage, we'll go through untimed questions for each section, ensure you understand the fundamentals and can smash the question technique.
The second stage involves timed questions. I'll observe the way in which you tackle questions under timed pressure then advise on how you can improve.
I use a range of sources (from Medify to the ultimate UCAT collecion) and a variety of exam questions to perfect your technique.

Welcome to Brainy Student! My name is Sumayyah and I am currently waiting for my A Level results.
A little bit about me:
I passed my 11+ exam back in 2013, achieved all 7's, 8's and 9's (A's and A*'s) in my GCSE's in 2018 and successfully applied for Medicine last year. My UCAT score was in the top 2% of all scores and after 4 interview invites, received 4 offers to study Medicine.
I have now set up Brainy Student to help other students, and parents. I can share with you all the resources and materials which I have used to get to where I am today. This page should give you a little taste of what I offer. Currently all lessons are being held on Zoom - an online video platform.
If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch.

How do you best prepare for the UCAT? Which online resources are worth investing your time and money in? In our mentoring sessions which you can book through www.brainystudent.co.uk I can go through all the resources which I used, tried and tested.
Ultimately you need to get used to sitting and doing 44 Verbal Reasoning questions continuously, 29 Decision Making questions, 36 Quantitative Reasoning questions, 55 Abstract Reasoning questions and 69 situational judgement questions well.
Kaplan and Medify are two well-known, and well-used sites. Personally I used both sites. Both have question banks which can be adapted so you choose how many questions you work through in one sitting. But the websites do have their respective differences, pros and cons. And it's worth knowing which site is better to use.

📚 GCSE POST 📚
There are so many different ways to revise over your GCSE course. As the amount of content which you're expected to know increases, it can become increasingly difficult to know how to best manage your revision time for different subjects.
In our mentoring sessions, which you can book on www.brainystudent.co.uk , one of the things which we will look through are the different revision techniques. We will look at how to use - or not use - them.
One tip worth sharing with you all now is that making pretty posters to stick on your walls, or around the house, is probably going to be a waste of your time.
Most of us which have stuck up information on walls, cupboards, fridges and ceilings have admitted to doing it just to almost make us 'feel more studious'. I rarely ever looked up at the walls to see what I had previously stuck up.
In fact, these posters can almost lull you into a false sense of security as your brain thinks that it is always working as there are notes and annotations all around you.
The best way to ensure that the work you've stuck up serves some purpose is to hold yourself accountable. So you might put it on your daily to do list to walk around the house and engage with all the wall posters which you've stuck up. Or, maybe before the start of each hour of revision, make it a habit to engage with the wall posters.
Overall, just don't waste too much time 'making pretty notes' to stick on your walls - only for you to never look at them again.

⭐️ 11+ POST ⭐️
Parents will begin focused, structured 11+ preparation lessons at different points in their child's education. While some will begin as early as Year 3, others will delay preparing till Year 5.
Before beginning these structured lessons, it is important to know what exactly will be examined in the 11+ in your region/area. Across the UK, the exam varies slightly - with different requirements and grading systems. With an 11+ mentoring session on www.brainystudent.co.uk, we can look through what exactly your area will be examining, and how to best prepare for the exam - with specifics to your area.
For a slight introduction to the region-specific 11+ exam, you can also check out https://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/schools/
