📣 Exciting News for 11+ Parents! 🎉
Dear Parents, I now have nearly 24 years of experience in 11+ tutoring, having initially helping a small group of children from friends and family. Over time, my services grew through word of mouth, as parents saw the personalised support and excellent results their children achieved.
I have limited availability for my face-to-face lessons, held only on weekends in small groups of 4–6 students, no 1-1 or larger in-person groups.
To cater to more students, I’ve launched online classes by collaborating with other teachers, allowing us to offer lessons in larger groups and 1-1 sessions. These are at a very low cost to make 11plus accessible for all. These larger groups of 10-15 students are ideal for students who do not require one-to-one attention but benefit from structured guidance, a clear study plan, and expert direction. Let’s make 11+ success achievable for more children!

I have to re-share my post, which I wrote in February22, because some parents are still confused about the preparation pattern, and have approached me for a clear guidance on how to prepare their children for GL vs CEM?
It is very important to stick to the format that the child will be examined on, so the confusions and waste of time can be avoided.

When learning is made fun, and students are learning actively by participating in lesson activities, it becomes more effective and the learner retains it for very long period of time.

Kids had a blast decorating their Easter Bonnets today😊. We must not forget that after all, these are very young children, studying extra tuition hours while others only have to attend their schools. They need these short breaks every hour to help in their mood to be lifted and their minds refreshed!

My home tuition is popular with parents who can’t make 2 trips every week, so children spend one day a week for all the intensive study they need few months before their exams. (I plan and deliver my lessons with engaging activities and a 10 minute break every hour, so a student can spend 4 to 6 hours a day without getting tired or bored in studying).
I teach in small groups of 2 to 4 or 1-1.

It was a challenging situation!
The student hated Math and won't engage at all.
I started working with her in January by making the concepts clear during her 1-1 sessions followed by assigning homework from the practice books which contained the themes and activities she liked. By the end of February, her progress jumped up 50% and gradually100%. Target achieved😊.
Having said that, the credit goes to parents as well who took my professional advice on board and worked with me to get these amazing results.

The reason why I always use spiral curriculum in Math? It works!
It means to return to the same topics over time, every time increasing difficulty or complexity level a step further. Maths is only learnt and applied by practice and repetition.
Math never works with methods that involve learning something then moving on, perhaps never to engage with it again, because once you stop practicing Math, you forget it so quickly and so much that the same topic has to be taught again.
Majority of the topics in Math have to be taught in stages. From basic and easy stage to gradually increasing the difficulty level in the same topic.
When students re-engage with a topic repeatedly, they both consolidate prior knowledge in their memory and build on it over time.
As maths is not just about numbers and cramming formulas, it goes WAY beyond that. Maths builds overall confidence, logical reasoning and important analytical skills, it shows your child how to be persistent regardless of how bad the current situation looks.
Students that improve their maths abilities can apply the same skills to their everyday life in terms of decision making, problem solving and ultimately overcoming any adversities in their future.
