🌿 RISKY PLAY IN THE EARLY YEARS 🌿

Climbing, balancing, jumping, exploring and getting muddy might feel risky — but these experiences are so important for young children. 💚

Risky play helps children to:
🧠 Build confidence
💪 Develop physical skills
🤔 Learn to assess risk
🌱 Become more independent
🌟 Build resilience

Our role isn’t to remove every risk, but to provide a safe environment where children can challenge themselves, make choices and learn through experience.

Let them explore. Let them have a go. Let them grow. ❤️

📖 THE POWER OF STORY-TIME 📖

You know that snuggly story before bed or in the morning ? It adds up to something extraordinary for your little one.

Here’s how many words a child hears through reading in their first FIVE years:

❌ Never read to → less than 4,662 words
📅 Once every other month → 4,662 words
📚 1–2 times a week → 63,570 words
💛 3–5 times a week → 169,520 words
✨ Every single day (1 book) → 296,660 words
🌟 5 books a day → 1,483,300 words

That’s over 1.4 MILLION words — building vocabulary, sparking imagination, and growing confidence, one page at a time.

It doesn’t have to be perfect. It doesn’t have to be long. Even a few minutes a day makes a huge difference. 💛

If your child was born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023, now is the time to start thinking about their Reception place.

💛 A LITTLE REMINDER

Your child being at nursery does not automatically guarantee a Reception place at the same school.

Reception places are allocated through the school admissions process, so every family needs to make an application.
