What a fabulous little idea!

While I was in the Tamworth area yesterday, I spotted this brilliant community book exchange tucked inside a bus shelter in Warton – and I just had to stop and take a look.

The idea is so simple: take a book, leave a book.

It’s completely free, open 24/7 and gives people in the local community somewhere to browse, borrow and donate their pre-loved books.

I absolutely love seeing ideas like this. Not only does it encourage reading, but it also brings a real sense of community and gives books the opportunity to be enjoyed over and over again rather than sitting forgotten on a shelf.

Sometimes it really is the simplest ideas that make such a lovely difference.

I think I may have to remember to take a few books with me next time I’m over that way!

A slightly different office view for me this morning!

Today I travelled over to Tamworth to interview one of our new Teaching Assistants, who is now cleared and available for work within the local area.

One of the things I really enjoy about my role is getting out and meeting candidates face-to-face. It gives me the opportunity to really get to know the people I represent and understand exactly what they are looking for from their next role.

And travelling to Tamworth came with an added bonus… my wonderful Dad lives there!

So, after kindly allowing me to set up my Smart Education office from his dining table this morning, we managed to squeeze in a fabulous catch-up too. Not a bad way to spend a working morning!

💚 Supporting our schools goes beyond recruitment! 💚

Today, I had the pleasure of visiting one of our lovely client schools with a slightly sweeter delivery than usual… cakes!

The school is supporting the Macmillan Coffee Morning, and Smart Education was delighted to make a donation to help them raise money for such a fantastic cause.

For us, working with schools isn’t just about providing staffing solutions. It’s about building genuine relationships, supporting our local communities and getting behind the causes that matter to the schools and people we work with.

Hopefully the cakes help raise plenty of money — although I can't promise they all survived without a little quality control!

A huge well done to everyone taking part and raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Are you passionate about helping children and families overcome barriers to education and achieve positive outcomes?

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Family Support Worker to join a welcoming school, working closely with pupils and their families to improve attendance, wellbeing and engagement with education.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who can build strong, trusting relationships with vulnerable and sometimes challenging families, offering practical support and guidance both within the school and out in the local community.

You will work with families to identify and overcome social and economic barriers, signposting and referring them to relevant support services, charities, food banks and other agencies where appropriate. Working collaboratively with school staff and external professionals, you will play a key role in ensuring children have the best possible opportunity to succeed.

We're looking for someone with substantial experience supporting vulnerable families, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage sensitive situations with empathy, professionalism and resilience. A social work qualification would be advantageous, and you must have your own transport and a full, clean driving licence.

Are you an experienced HLTA passionate about supporting young people with complex SEND to achieve their goals?

We are currently recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist post-16 SEND college in Aston from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated HLTA to play a key role in supporting learners as they develop their communication, independence and essential life skills in preparation for adulthood.

Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will help deliver engaging learning activities, support personalised learning programmes and work alongside teachers, therapists and support staff to ensure every student receives the support they need to thrive.

The role will involve leading learning activities, supporting students with complex SEND needs, using personalised communication strategies including AAC where appropriate, and providing guidance and support to Teaching Assistants within the classroom.

We are looking for an experienced HLTA with a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning (or equivalent), strong experience supporting young people with complex SEND, and a passion for creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
