At Poppies we always strive to educate our children to learn the importance of caring for our planet. Over the past few weeks we have been litter picking around the community, planting seeds and learning how to take care of them, making our own planet Earth artwork and exploring how we can recycle our rubbish at nursery, even creating our own classroom recycling bins. What an important value to pass onto the next generation.

Even the smallest person can make a huge difference and we definitely have some mighty eco warriors at Poppies 🌎

Happy Earth Day!

The children have had a lovely week so far of outdoor fun, exploring nature, planting and learning all about the world around us.

Our Preschoolers especially have been doing a special topic all about our planet, learning about recycling and where our food comes from. They have been planting their own seeds to grow beans, cress, strawberries, radishes, peppers and more, they are looking forward to a lovely picnic in the summer with their home grown fruits and veggies! They have set up their own recycling bins, learning to sort the paper, plastic and food waste into the right bins and we are planning on doing some more litter picks soon around the local area, teaching them to take pride in and look after where we live.

Our first trip of the term to see our lovely friends at the care home. The children had a brilliant time playing with the toys, chatting to the residents and saying hello to all of the pets, especially Tucker the tortoise who is very cute. The staff commented on how lovely, polite and well behaved our children were and we were so proud of them.

Paediatric first aid and emergency first aid at work for some of the team and the management yesterday was such a fun, informative day.

We hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday weekend and having lots of fun with family and a few treats too.

We had a lovely treat last week at nursery, a visit from the Easter Bunny himself! We all had a dance together and the children thought his dance moves were brilliant!
