This year to celebrate 3 Wonderful Years of Conifers Day Nursery Kings Norton!
We had the Animal Man come into nursery to show us all of the amazing animals!
Laura was amazing with the children, We had such a lovely time!
We met Phil the Guinea pig, Colin the cockroach, Kellogg the cornsnake, and many more! We shared lots of fun facts, stories and laughs with the animals.

The Team Just Keeps On Shining!

"My son had a really hard time settling in because he wasn't used to not being with me, and Conifer's staff went out of their way to support him settling with extra sessions. Now, five months later, he is so happy every day that he doesn't even wave goodbye! He loves all the staff now and is making little friends. It's such a relief to know he is cared for and supported, so I don't have to worry about him while I am at work. And, bonus - he comes home exhausted, which isn't easy for a 1-year-old with so much energy! I especially love that they do Forest School so that the children are outside getting fresh air. They have also done several fun events for parents to come along, and it's so great to be there and get to see him enjoy himself. He is happy and confident, and to know that I won't be the one cleaning up the messy activity!"

🌟 Fit4Sport Meets Startwell 🌟

Did you know that each week, we are joined by the fantastic Izzy from FIT 4 Sport, who hosts our fun, physical, skilled sports classes. She supports us in delivering high-quality Early Years practice every day. Not only is she helping our children thrive and keep active, but she is also supporting us to deliver and achieve our Startwell Accreditation.

👩‍🏫Children learn from copying the behaviours of those they see around them. Estelle and Izzy have been fantastic role models, just like Suzy Startwell as they engage, interact, role model and join in the classes alongside the children.

🧠 Sammy Skills promotes the importance of skills-based play and looks at the fundamental movement skills that children should be mastering. During our weekly sessions, we are using lots of large, gross motor movements and continually building on what we can already achieve and do.

🏃 Active Azra inspires active, healthy little movers. She is all about moving more and sitting less. Movement is best described as the ‘belly button being on the move’. Have you wiggled your belly button today?

🔄Did you know, Toddlers aged 1-3 years – should spend at least 180 minutes (3 hours) per day in a variety of physical activities at any intensity, spread throughout the day, this is where 180° Katie comes in. one sports session includes 30 minutes of high energetic movements to meet our daily goal.

Put it all together and with the help of our team, FIT4SPORT and Startwell we are all helping children learn, grow and shine! ✨🌈

🌲🪚 Sawing Success at Forest School 🌲🪚

During our recent Forest School Adventures with Laura, our little explorers got hands-on with real saws, cutting their own log slices!

They practised steady sawing, teamwork, focus and safe tool handling — and were so proud of their wooden treasures. 🌿✨

Once safely chopped and sliced, the children enjoyed selecting their own paints to create their very own Poppy creations in line with Remembrance Day. 🌺

It’s not mischief.
It’s not mayhem.
It’s… their tiny emotional volcano erupting! 🌋😄

And guess what? That’s how early learning works!

One of our fundamental learning goals for Autumn is to understand feelings, behaviours and emotions. The boys and girls in Conifers' room have been using their mark-making, fine motor, and communication skills to create their very own emotion faces.

Here are some playful ways to help your mini volcano manage the lava:

🧁 1. Name the Feeling Game
“Is that a grumpy growl? A wibbly wobbly worry? Or a super-sad sprinkle?”
Kids LOVE silly words — and they learn emotional labels faster!

🪜 2. Climb the Calm Ladder
Step 1: Wiggle.
Step 2: Stretch.
Step 3: Slow breaths.
Step 4: Cuddle.
(They think it’s a game. You know it’s emotional regulation 😉)

⭐ 3. Celebrate the Little Wins

Confidence grows when we notice their effort.

🍕 Pizza Making🍕

Last week, our little chefs had a wonderful time making their very own mini pizzas! This hands-on activity encouraged creativity, independence, and lots of tasty exploration.

✨ What we learned and practised:

✋Fine motor skills: spreading sauce, sprinkling cheese, and adding toppings

🗨Language development: naming ingredients and talking about our choices

🔢Math skills: counting toppings and comparing sizes

🍕Healthy eating: exploring different vegetables and talking about balanced meals

✨Confidence: making something all by ourselves!

The children loved choosing their toppings — from colourful peppers to tomatoes, mushrooms, and cheese. The best part? Eating our delicious creations together! Some of us couldn't even wait until they were cooked; we just love cheese! 🤭

🧸 Biscuits Adventures! 🧸

Our take-home bear 'Biscuit' has been having a BEAR-y fun time throughout October. Biscuit has been sharing birthdays, toasty bonfires and spooktacular Halloween sleepovers.

Biscuit has enjoyed sharing stories, snuggling up in the blankets and making magical memories with all of his nursery friends ✨🎆👻
