Sharing the Bible with neighbours can change everything, but only if it’s meaning-full sharing.
John and Olive Drain know this from the inside. Drawing on decades of pioneering experience across the world, they joined our Newbigin Pioneering Hub this weekend to explore what it means to let Scripture breathe in local contexts. They named something many pioneers feel but rarely say: the Bible has been weaponised, used to close conversations rather than open them. Then they showed us another way, rooted in creativity, compassion, and deep attentiveness to the people and places God has called us to.
Something shifted in us. Contextualisation is not a compromise; it is faithfulness and relevancy together.
This is the kind of formation our current Cohort is receiving as they move toward their final pitch to a panel in July and their graduation. Real encounter with real practitioners. The seeds being planted now will take root in neighbourhoods across the country.
