๐ŸŽ‰ It's the only Birmingham secondary school to be handed the rare award of an 'exceptional' rating by Ofsted so far. This means standards in a particular area are judged to be the very best. It's not a grade the education watchdog hands out easily. Only a handful of schools in the region have earned an 'exceptional' tag since the new grades were launched earlier this year as part of an inspection overhaul.

More will likely follow when the top schools are re-inspected under the new model. But for now, E-ACT North Birmingham Academy is the only Birmingham secondary with an 'exceptional' rating, as leaders were praised for their methods in keeping attendance high. Making the achievement all the more impressive is the school's location in inner-city Erdington, close to some of the more deprived parts of the city.

Mr Newman, thank you so much for everything you have done for North Birmingham Academy. As expressed in this video, you have been a pillar to our school and we would not be where we are today without all your hard work! You will be missed, but we are so proud of you and excited for you and your next venture with the trust. From everyone at NBA, we wish you all the best! Thank you๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’œ
