Anyone who works in education knows the holidays are a lovely break, but are also a great opportunity for sorting, organising and making sure we're prepped for the term ahead!!

Here at Keynotes Birmingham, that means getting games ready, sorting our hands-on resources, finding and prepping activities to strengthen little fingers, making playlists of music for listening activities and so much more! It's very exciting for us, as we'll be holding 3-week trials at Quinborne Community Centre in May for the first time ever!

Only 16 days left until our group piano lessons for 4-11 year olds start at Quinborne Community Centre! From 3rd - 17th May I will be running a set of 3 trial sessions so you can come and try out our group lessons without the commitment of signing up longer term.

In these 3 weeks, we will work through a mini workbook (aptly called Piano Party!), covering keyboard geography, pieces, listening skills and even getting to compose their own piece! It's a great taster of playing the piano and of our group lessons 🥳

The 3 weeks cost just £30 which includes all materials needed. As this is designed as a taster course, there is no registration fee for signing up for these 3-weeks.

"Why are we listening to this music in our piano lesson??"

This was a 7 year old in our Keynotes lesson today. We were, at this point, listening to the Superman theme tune by John Williams, a gorgeous and dramatic orchetral score. We were also making Superman poses, and posing questions such as, "Why is the music fortissimo?" "What do you think Superman would be like if the music was pianissimo?"

It was a joy to discuss this orchestral piece with this group (ranging in age from 5-7), and listen to their viewpoints and interpretation of the music. And it was a great reminder to me of why I love teaching Keynotes group lessons...

They are so much more than just piano lessons....
They are a whole musical education.
They are getting to make silly Superman poses with your friends while listening to excellent music.
They are learning that your questions and views on things matter, and will be listened to and discussed seriously.
They are encouraging higher order thinking, no matter how young you are.

They really are piano lessons with a difference :)

We're so excited to be launching our new group lessons at Quinborne Community Centre in May!!

We love these Keynotes groups because they are so fun, and you can see the children growing in confidence and indpendence week by week - there's no limit to their learning potential!! Sessions will be on Tuesdays between 4-6pm and last for 30 minutes, and are taught in small groups of 6-8 children.

Head to our website to find out more about our curriculum and sign your child up!
