Another glimpse into my custom shirtmaking process.
Here I have matched up stripes with yoke and sleeves.

New e-learning instructional videos on : draping, dressmaking and Tailoring will be launched in the next few weeks on Jojo Remeny's new ecommerce website.. The first course :
Developing and sewing a Sheath dress from a draped hip block PART 1 AND PART 2 will be available soon at a very special introductory price.

PART 1 DRAPING A WAIST AND HIP BLOCK shows you how to make a foundation block by draping fabric on a figure.
Draping on the figure..PART 1 is a
Comprehensive 4 and a half hour long course in 4 videos called chapters.
Instructions on draping and combining flat pattern cutting a foundation waist and hip block by Fashon designer and Tailor Jojo Remeny..
Jojo goes into micro details on the hows and whys of draping a block on a dummy and figure.

Contents include :

Preparing the dummy for different sizes.

Draping a basic waist block
Draping a hip block and flat pattern cutting a hip block from a draped waist block.
Explaining tolerance, and ease that is, required.
Fitting and balance awareness and issues.
Dart manipulation.
Fabric awareness of grain and fabric suitability...
Draping on a real figure as well as a dummy form
Once you have made these foundation balanced blocks, they are ready to be converted and used to make : dresses, blouses, waistcoats and jackets just from these simple foundation patterns

PART 2,
Developing dress designs from the basic draped block using flat cutting and draped methods.
Making a Sheath dress
continues on from Part 1 and is an instructional video on how to make a fitted sheath dress from the draped block.

Sewing a dress to completion.
Sewing machine skills
Hand stitching skills.

Making your pattern from your body shape , using a combination of draping techniques on the dummy and human body with flat pattern cutting , understanding fittings and balances of front and back and how to correct and achieve a perfect fit , dart manipulation to create design variations, inserting invisible zips the correct way, handling fabric and scissors correctly, how to use the sewing machine, learning hand and sewing machine techniques, learning tailoring and couture techniques ..
Includes as much fabric as student needs
Includes as much pattern cutting paper as students need.

Tailoring courses:
Students can opt to learn how to make bespoke Tailored trousers or Waistcoats using traditional tailoring methods which includes how to make your own buttonholes by hand

Alterations course includes :
How to professionally alter clothes for men and women includes :
Turning up or letting down trousers, skirt ,dresses .
Taking in waist bands of trousers and skirts
Replacing Zips in dresses,skirts and trousers.
Jackets alterations includes:
Taking in , shortening jacket sleeves,narrowing shoulders (time permitting) shortening jackets and coats.
Adding panels to dresses if too tight
Replacing buttons by hand , replacing hook and bars.darning rips in jeans and putting in patches.
Adding v on back seams of trousers and jeans if waist is too tight..
After you learn the techniques of altering clothes , you can potentially set up your own alterations business.

Free tools and equipment for students
Rulers:L Square,hip curve, French curve, straight ruler, mini rulers.
Chalk ,fine liner pens and pencils, tracing wheel,glue stick,A5 writing book,pencil case.
This is the only course in UK if not the world that gives all students tools and equipment to keep

After my student had draped a basic waist block on the dummy I showed her how to transfer the draped block onto paper,this will be the basic block that will eventually become a dress design.

My Tailoring student cutting out her waistcoat pattern that had been draped on her body to create a basic block. The block was then designed and adapted to create a working Waistcoat pattern that is cut out.
The pattern will be made up into a traditional waistcoat with handstitched buttonholes.
