A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols remains one of the School's treasured highlights in our festive calendar.

Our Chapel Choir delivered two beautiful services in the School Chapel on Sunday and we were delighted to welcome back Old Birkonians of all ages, who joined us both as performers and as members of the congregation.

This traditional service—held on or near Christmas Eve—retells the story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus. Through nine meaningful Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books, and the Gospels, woven together with expressive carols, hymns, and choir anthems, the true spirit of Christmas shone brightly.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part and all who attended. A wonderful way to come together as a community during this special season.

🎄Christmas Chapel Services – Years 3 to 6 🎄
Over the past week, our Junior pupils from Years 3 to 6 have come together to put on their annual Christmas Chapel Services for families and friends. The Chapel has been filled with a lovely mix of traditional and modern carols, creating a warm, festive atmosphere. Each class shared a Christmas poem that they have been practising over recent weeks, and their clear voices and brilliant teamwork brought plenty of smiles to the audience.
These services make the build‑up to Christmas at our school feel so special.
Thank you to everyone who came along—we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

We are pleased to invite the wider school community to join us for this year’s ‘Come and Sing' Evensong on Sunday 16th November!

While our Sunday Evensongs are always open for anyone in the wider school community to attend, ‘Come and Sing’ invites you to join in with the choir; rehearsing beforehand and singing from the stalls, in 4-part harmony.

The choir will be rehearsing on Friday 14th November in the chapel, between 16:00 and 17:15.

The timings for Sunday 16th will be as follows:
14:30-17:00 - Rehearsal in the chapel
17:00-18:00 - A light tea, such as soup and/or sandwiches, will be served in the dining hall
18:30- Evensong Service in the Chapel

If you are interested in taking part, please email [email protected] to reserve your place and for more information. Please include in your email whether you are a soprano, alto, tenor or bass, and whether you have any dietary requirements.

We hope you will be able to join us, and we look forward to singing with you!!

Join Us on Wednesday 12th November for an Evening of Art and Music!

Enjoy a wonderful showcase of student creativity - featuring stunning artwork and inspiring performances.

The evening will begin at 6.30pm with an art gallery viewing, accompanied by welcome drinks and light refreshments. At 7.00pm the concert will commence, presenting a variety of vocal and instrumental solos, along with a special performance by the Year 7 Choir.

We're so pleased to announce the first of two concerts taking place during our Arts Festival 2025. Please join us on Tuesday 11th November for an afternoon of musical performances from our youngest musicians, as well as those working towards Grades 1 and 2 in instrument or voice. We can't wait to welcome all of our young performers to the stage!

We are so excited to announce our Arts Festival 2025! Taking place across a whole week in November, the Arts Festival will be a celebration of the talent across our Music, Art and Drama departments.

Opening with a special Remembrance Evensong in the Birkenhead School Chapel on Sunday 9th of November, the week will include events, concerts, pop-up performances and workshops across the entire school.

Join us next Friday in Bushell Hall for our Music Welcome Evening – a relaxed and friendly occasion for families of students involved in co-curricular music to come together and celebrate the joy of music.
