I have been meaning to update a few bits here for quite a while - so I'll strike whilst the iron is hot.
My move to South Yorkshire has been interesting to say the least, and lead to a stint within Community Health, with a taste of my much coveted role as an exercise physiologist. Sadly the person I was covering for did return, meaning I'd be left picking up shifts should I have stayed on.
Spring boarding off of this, I found myself a role elsewhere that ticked all my boxes. In an unfortunate turn of events, the role I walked into had none of the promised responsibilities. Oh well.
Not one for sitting on my thumbs: I accepted the offer for Physiotherapy at Sheffield University - and I currently midway through the first year. I'm really enjoying the experience, and the depth of knowledge are making it beyond worth it.
It's got it's associated challenges - it's difficult to manage social aspects, time management, and childcare etc, but I don't think I've ever been this driven in my career before.
I have been allocated to a hospital for placement next month, and I'm equally bricking it and totally ready to do this!
I regularly talk about my wonderful experience within the leisure industry, and the wonderful people who I've worked with. There's a strong possibility you've been mentioned - on several occasions!
I miss the gym, and have a special place in my heart for the time I spent there.
Who knows where I'll end up. Maybe cardiac, maybe MSK, maybe I'll be in geriatrics. In my minds eye I can't see me in neuro or respiratory, and as a dad I really don't like the idea of paediatrics... But I am keeping my mind open to what I do best! Time will tell 😁
Don't be a stranger.
Paul.
