Moorcroft Wood Primary School

What a last couple of weeks for our Year 6s! Full of final times!
We had an amazing Enterprise Week, a Leavers' assembly full of their Moorcroft Wood highlights (including plenty of tears from the audiences), a last ever MCW school trip, a fun packed leavers BBQs, an awards ceremony and lots of laughs and farewell tears. Throw in lots of parent organised treats like an amazing night of activities, a special leavers cake and treats and a big farewell yesterday afternoon, its been quite an end to 7 years!
To our Class of 22/23... We are very proud of the young adults you have all become and can't wait to witness all your successes in the future!

The end of the academic year also brings with it a big, emotional farewell from the Moorcroft family.
Mrs Patel has been part of our family for 18 years and positively affected every child who has passed through the school in that time. Whether it be promoting our reading scheme which everyone has followed, or helping to mentor our newly qualified teachers, she has had a tremendous affect on hundreds of children!
Mrs Patel you will be tuly missed!!!

Treetots have a lovely last session yesterday, we had a teddy bears picnic. We will really miss tots stay safe and we will see some of you back in September and good luck to the ones leaving us.

🏆 🥇🏅Today, we held our amazing Moorcroft Wood’s end of year awards morning. We first celebrated children who received the summer term award and then our pupils that won the overall awards for the year. We are extremely proud of all of our children and their commitment to school and learning, but a special well done to all the children who came away with an award. 🏆🥇🏅

Sky Observation Wheel done! Time for the heart rate to return to normal, a game of "replicate the MCW badge in the sand", a quick play on the sand and a nice ice cream.!!!

Year 6 have arrived at their last ever Moorcroft Wood school trip, the fantastic, sandy, DRY Western-Super-Mare! Having played a buit of football on beach and had something to eat, we are heading to the Sky Observation Wheel! Let's see who deal with heights!!!

This week Year 3 have celebrated their “Greek Day”. Children had the opportunity to come to school dressed like an Ancient Greek and spent the day trying and making Greek food, researching about the Gods and Goddesses, learning some Greek words and even attempted some Greek dancing.

A fabulous day was had by all! 🇬🇷🏛️👏🏼

Today saw the return of... Moorcroft's Got Talent! And what an event it was!

We had singers, we had comedians, we had storytellers, we had dancers, we had drummers, we had a kickboxing demonstration and our very own Ant and Dec
It is no lie... Moorcroft really does have TALENT!
Well done to everyone that took part in not only the live shows, but also the audition stages!

Well done to the Year 5 children who sang at the carnival this afternoon. Due to the weather it was held inside Walsall Art Gallery rather than outside but it was still a great event. The children sang a song called ‘The Windrush Anthem’ which celebrates the contribution that people from the Caribbean have made to British society. Also, thank you to the parents that came to watch - I know the children appreciated the support and I hope you enjoyed it.

We have a class full of entrepreneurs in Year 6! Today our Year 6 Enterprise Week businesses opened to the school community and what can we say. Thank you to everyone for their support.
This didn’t just come together!The children were challenged to come up with their business ideas, learn about cost of goods and profit margins, consider if their product was viable, create advertising for their brand, then had to create,and sell, their products. A real insight to how to run a business.
And what a turn out! Apologises if we were out of stock but good news…
We plan on restocking tonight and opening again tomorrow after school so please remember your change!

Children in Year 6 were joined by members of our Moorcroft Wood community for their Career Day today. It was a great opportunity to expose our children to a variety of of careers, providing them with a realistic picture of the workplace as well as help them make the connection between school and work.

It would not have been possible without people in our community giving up their time to advance our children's experiences.
It really is appreciated!

Reception children really enjoyed exploring the Little City role play. This was part of our school wide work on jobs and careers.

🌟Today, Year 1 had a lovely morning enjoying the big city role play. We have some future vets, firefighters, policemen and princess in the making🌟

Nursery had a fantastic time with ‘Little City’ this morning! They transformed themselves into firefighters, police officers, shop assistants, builders, beauticians, hairdressers, chefs, vets, doctors, nurses and mechanics and had a brilliant morning acting out each role.

This week has started with a bang here at Moorcroft Wood.
Today we were visited by M&M Productions who delivered their rendition of ‘The Railway Children’.
As ever, it is a real treat for our children to see and experience theatre up close and personal.

Years 1 and 2 kicked off the first round of the Moorcroft’s got Talent auditions brilliantly this afternoon. We had some fantastic singers, super dancers, funny joke tellers and an amazing boxing routine. We can’t wait for the final! 🎉

The year 5 singers did extremely well this afternoon at their rehearsal at Beacon. Well done to you all. The rehearsals are for an African Carnival performance outside Walsall Art Gallery on 14th July and has been offered to the federation by Walsall Music Education Hub and Black Country Dance Hub.

Thank you to everyone that joined us for the Moorcroft Wood 2023 Sports Day yesterday. The weather was kind, every child did amazing and the new parents Versus teachers event was a massive success (despite the claims of the teachers cheating).

Congratulations to everyone from Wind who won the Sports Day Cup for the second year running!

This week in Treetots we have been exploring all of the new outdoor equipment. We have been climbing, jumping and crawling. We have also enjoyed the new painting boards, mixing the colours with brushes and our hands.

Today we celebrate all fathers and the special men in our lives. Thank you for everything you do including all the little things or words that go unnoticed ❤️
