Longer days and better weather turn our thoughts turn to holidays. SPANISH LESSONS!
Would you like to learn some Spanish for an upcoming holiday or improve upon the Spanish you already know? After the success of our first set of classes, JD Languages is starting a new 5 week course for beginners and improvers. Classes are friendly and relaxed, no-one is ever made to feel awkward and we focus on real, usable language.

Does this sound like something for you? Come and join others in an environment where you can enjoy making progress with others, where mistakes are normal and your confidence will build week on week.

Classes will take place in the barn at the Copper Beech pub, Bilsthorpe from 7.15pm to 8.30pm on Tuesdays (May 12th, May 19th, May 26th, June 2nd and June 9th). The cost for the five classes (payable in advance) is £75. There is an early bird discount of £5 on the course fee for those able to book by Monday May 5th.

Did you come back from your holiday to a Spanish speaking country this year with a determination to be able to speak more confidently next time? Having a grasp of even just the basics of a language allows you to get so much more out of a holiday. I've been asked about setting up a group class for improvers in the Southwell area and am looking to see if there's any interest. Frank Smith, a professor of Language Education in British Columbia, said “Language is not a genetic gift, it is a social gift. Learning a new language is becoming a member of the club – the community of speakers of that language.” How right he was! Learning a language gives you an insight into another way of thinking - how do speakers of that language view the world, what's important to them and what makes them laugh? Here's a chance over the next few days to test your French and Spanish with some jokes in other languages. Many of them are incredibly corny, but you'll feel so satisfied that you've understood a joke in a different language! 🙂🙃🙂

Let's talk about learning a language. It's not easy. You might have discovered this after a trip abroad this summer or maybe a young person in your life is thinking about the challenges of the subjects they are taking when they go back to school next week. Language learning takes patience and time and can often feel very frustrating. Apps do help (I use Duolingo every day to try and learn some Italian), but often aren't really the key to success. Whether you're learning a language to help you pass an exam, get the most out of holidays or because you're considering moving abroad, JD Languages can help! I have the expertise and experience needed to support you, help you when things get difficult and give you the confidence you need to make the greatest possible progress. JD Languages is happy to announce that it’s opening its books to new students! We offer bespoke tuition either online or face to face, delivered by a highly qualified Spanish and French teacher with more than 30 years of experience working in schools. Teaching is supportive and friendly, designed to give every student the confidence to achieve their potential.
All classes include an initial 15-minute discovery call with the student and, where appropriate, parents/carers to discuss needs and to allow sessions to be carefully tailored to the needs of each learner.
Tuition is available for primary aged children wanting to get a taster for a new language, GCSE and A level students looking to achieve their best possible grade in their exams and adult beginners and improvers who would like to be able to communicate with confidence when travelling abroad.
