Sweetlands Farm Sweetlands farm is a family run small riding school offering after school and weekend riding lessons. We are also a smallholding and breed Dorset sheep.

The Haven, Billingshurst We mainly cater for children from beginners to advanced but run a few adult mid week lessons or hacks onto the downs link. Meet Red… our gorgeous, loveable all-rounder ❤️

Standing at 14hh, Red is one of those special ponies who really is everyone’s ride, he’ll happily look after a less confident rider but is just as much fun for someone more experienced.

Red absolutely loves attention and, as far as he’s concerned, everyone he meets is his friend. He’s also rather partial to a bath — basically, anything involving Red being fussed over gets his approval!

But don’t be fooled by that angelic face…

Tack Red up, leave him unattended for a few seconds and there’s a very good chance you’ll come back to find his bridle on the floor 🤭

If we had to describe Red in just three words, they’d be: kind, loveable and dependable.

Yesterday was a very special one at Sweetlands.

We welcomed 10 children through our gates for a morning arranged through FSW Family Support Work charity.

These are families going through incredibly difficult times, including bereavement, and today was simply about giving them time to be children.

They met the animals, sat amongst the goats and sheep, spent time with the pigs and helped bath the ponies. There was no rushing and no pressure — just animals, fresh air, laughter and time together.

And they absolutely loved it.

This is exactly why we created the Sweetlands Community Fund.

We want to be able to offer more mornings like this to local children and families who could really benefit from them, while also helping towards the feed, bedding and everyday care of the animals who make these experiences possible.

Meet Jaffa Cakes… our cheeky little shadow. 🤎

Standing at 13hh, Jaffa Cakes has a personality that’s every bit as big as his heart. He absolutely adores people and, if he could, he’d happily follow you to the moon and back … he just wouldn’t want to lead the way! 🤭

Everyone falls in love with that cheeky face. Whether he’s making us laugh with his antics or quietly following behind to see what everyone is up to, he’s impossible not to adore.

If we had to describe Jaffa Cakes in just three words, they’d be: cheeky, gentle… and always following.

What a wonderful day at Sweetlands Farm!

We started the day with a one-to-one session for a young person referred by FSW Family Support Work Seeing the positive impact that calm, caring time with animals can have is exactly why we do what we do.

This afternoon we loved welcoming families to our Animal Experience, meeting all our friendly farm pals, enjoying a pony ride and finishing with refreshments in The Farmer’s Rest.

Seeing children gain confidence around animals, ask questions and simply enjoy being on the farm is exactly why we created these experiences.

Thank you to everyone who joined us—we can’t wait to welcome more families next week!
