Mr Porritt would like to say a big well done to some more Nursery superstars who can now recognise all their letter sounds and are on a sound blend book!

Nursery have really enjoyed taking part in Mr Porritt’s challenge this week and have truly wowed everyone. The children were encouraged to listen carefully for the letter sounds in the word bus and then have a go at writing it themselves. Many children even went on to write their own phrases or sentences, showing growing confidence and independence in their writing. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm, focus and pride as they tackled each part of the challenge. Article 28

Nursery had the best time this week helping to wash Mrs Hakes’ and Mrs Clift’s car, turning the outdoor area into a sea of bubbles, water and very soggy feet. The children loved using the sponges and cloths to make the car sparkly clean, working together and giggling the whole way through. We even practised cleaning in a figure of eight, remembering our Number of the Week and using our Ten Town rhyme to help us. It was messy, splashy and full of laughter — just the way Nursery like it.

Nursery have enjoyed a fun‑filled two weeks learning all about road safety and vehicles. The children have taken part in a whole range of exciting activities, from making their own traffic‑light biscuits (which were absolutely yummy) to developing their confidence, skill and control on the wheeled vehicles outdoors. They also loved constructing vehicles using a variety of construction materials, showing brilliant creativity and teamwork throughout. It’s been a fantastic fortnight of learning, exploring and having fun together.

Our Nursery children have had a wonderful two weeks learning all about road safety. They even enjoyed an extra‑special visit from our school Lollipop person, Cath, who came in to talk to them about how to keep themselves safe near the road. The children loved practising how to cross safely with a friend, taking turns being either the grown‑up or the child — and they all remembered the golden rule: always hold a grown‑up’s hand when crossing.

6C have been creating powerful blackout poetry inspired by World War II. ✍️🕊️
Using historical texts, the children carefully selected words and phrases to create meaningful poems that capture the emotions, experiences and stories of the war.
