The Summer Holidays Are Coming to an End… and We’re Getting Ready for an exciting new term!

As the long summer days begin to draw to a close, it’s almost time for back to school — and back to Kumon after school.

We hope all of our students have had a wonderful summer, filled with fun, adventures, sunshine and plenty of time to recharge. 💙

We’re now looking forward to welcoming everyone back and, most importantly, seeing all of our amazing students again!

It has been lovely to see their progress and determination throughout the summer, and we can’t wait to continue supporting them as they take on new challenges, build their confidence and reach their goals.

Bonjour to our students Bella and Teddy, who are enjoying their holiday while still working hard on their Kumon!

Spending just 15 minutes a day on their work, even while they’re away from home, is giving Bella and Teddy a fantastic head start before the new school year begins.

That little bit of daily practice is helping them prepare for September, keep their minds sharp and, most importantly, build the brilliant habit of learning every day.

As the French say: très bien! 🇫🇷

I was delighted to welcome the younger sibling of two of my existing students to our Billericay Kumon centre today. Aiden has been coming to our centre and dropping his siblings off for nearly a year. He was very excited that today was finally his turn!

Aiden starts reception in September so we are very happy to be supporting him as he starts school.
As he prepares for this exciting new chapter, we will be been focusing on developing the key skills that will help make the transition to school as smooth and positive as possible. Through fun, engaging activities, we are building confidence with listening and attention, following simple instructions, taking turns, communicating needs and ideas, developing early language skills, and encouraging independence with everyday routines.

It was also incredibly lovely to receive such thoughtful homemade gifts from two of my students. Thank you both so much. I was genuinely touched by the kindness, thoughtfulness, and effort that went into them, and it meant so much to me.

These gestures are a wonderful reminder of the special relationships that have grown over time, and I feel very grateful to be part of all of my students’ learning journey.

Today I dropped my eldest son at the airport for his first solo adventure – a week of surfing in Portugal as part of his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Time really does fly as a parent.

As exciting as it is to watch our children spread their wings, it’s also been lovely to receive photos of our Kumon students continuing their study whilst they’re away. Whether they’re on holiday, visiting family or travelling abroad, many have packed their Kumon worksheets and tablets alongside their suitcase!

It’s a wonderful reminder that little and often really does make a difference. Just a few minutes of daily study helps children maintain their routine, retain their skills and return feeling confident, rather than needing to catch up.

One of the things I love most about Kumon Connect is the flexibility it offers. Students can access and complete their work wherever they are, making it easier than ever to keep up that daily habit, no matter where their adventures take them.

Consistency builds confidence, and it’s fantastic to see our students proving that learning doesn’t have to stop when the holidays begin.

Our Billericay Kumon Centre is open all summer for classes and FREE assessments!

While some of our students are off enjoying well-earned holidays, many have been in class last week and this week, continuing to work hard and make fantastic progress.

One of the best things about the Kumon programme is that it doesn’t take hours of study to keep moving forward. A little consistency goes a long way, which means the dreaded summer slide simply isn’t an issue for our students.

When they return in September, they’ll be a little taller, maybe missing a few more teeth, and full of stories from their summer adventures—but they’ll also have continued building their confidence and skills every step of the way.

I couldn’t be prouder of every single one of them. Keep up the amazing work, Team Billericay! 💙

Our worksheet programmes put a huge emphasis on children picking up a pencil and writing.

It’s a skill that is slowly disappearing from their lives but will always have a home in both our paper and digital study methods.

Research suggests the average student forgets up to 2 months of their reading and 3 months of their mathematical skills over the summer holidays.

Luckily for you, we don’t take traditional end of term breaks at Kumon, meaning our students will continue to progress in the summer months ready to go back to school in September.

Summer holidays are absolutely for making
memories... but learning shouldn’t take a holiday.

At Kumon Billericay, we’re open throughout the summer, with just a short two-week break for in class sessions at the end of August.

Just a little Maths and English each day helps children keep their skills sharp, build confidence and return to school in September feeling ready to succeed.

Small, consistent steps really do make a big difference.

We have now set all paper worksheets for our students who cannot attend class Summer. Today, I am busy preparing our students summer target cards and of course their fun Summer challenge cards.

As most of our students work on tablets, work will be marked and reviewed daily and adjusted when needed; even when our students are not in class. This means that summer learning can continue no matter where our students are in the world.

We have assessment slots available throughout the Summer so new students can assessed and be set up to start in August or in September when school resumes. Classes return at normal times and days from Wednesday 02 September.

School stops for summer, but learning doesn’t have to.
