A practical day should never be your first introduction to the treatment.

Before our learners begin carrying out procedures, they must understand what they are doing, why they are doing it and what could go wrong.

That means learning anatomy and physiology, consultation, client assessment, treatment planning, contraindications, infection prevention, psychological considerations, complications, professional responsibilities and safe practice.

Then comes practical training.

Not because we want to make the journey longer, but because we refuse to make education weaker.

Anyone can copy a technique they have watched.

A properly educated practitioner can assess, adapt, justify, recognise risk and make safe decisions when the treatment does not follow the textbook.
