NEW FOR SEPTEMBER - Analysis Course: Think like an examiner (For Years 9-11)

This brand new course has been designed around the very skills I'm seeing students need whilst marking this summer's GCSE papers.

Part 1: Building Strong Analysis Skills

📅 Mondays: 7th September – 19th October
🕠 5.30pm–6.30pm

Students will develop the foundations of successful GCSE English analysis by learning how to:

✔ Identify and analyse language, structure and form confidently.
✔ Explain the impact of writers' choices in detail.
✔ Move beyond simple comments to clear, developed analysis.
✔ Structure clear analytical paragraphs.
✔ Understand exactly what examiners are looking for in analysis.

Part 2: Developing Sophisticated Responses

📅 Mondays: 2nd November – 14th December
🕠 5.30pm–6.30pm

Students will then build on these analytical skills by learning how to:

✔ Compare texts and ideas with confidence.
✔ Develop more perceptive and sophisticated interpretations.
✔ Make insightful links between evidence and the writer's intentions.
✔ Extend and refine their analysis to access higher marks.
✔ Write detailed, well developed responses that reflect what examiners are looking for.

By the end of the course, students will have a clear understanding of how to think like an examiner when analysing and apply these skills across both the GCSE English Language and Literature papers with confidence.

As another GCSE marking season comes to an end, one thing stands out every single year: students often know what they want to say, they just don't always know how to communicate it in a way that gains the higher marks.

That's why all of my September courses are designed around the skills examiners actually reward.

This September I'm excited to be launching my brand new course:

What's On This Week for Years 7-11?

For Year 11:
With just one GCSE English exam left for Year 11 students, it's all about that final push towards English Language GCSE Paper 2 next week.

To help students feel prepared and confident, I'll be running my final Night Before the Exam Walkthrough Session on:
📅 Thursday at 5.30pm
📖 AQA exam board - English Language Paper 2

During the session, we'll cover:
✅ Paper structure and timings
✅ How to approach each question
✅ Comparison question tips
✅ Transactional writing guidance
✅ Examiner advice
✅ Model examples
✅ Final reminders and reassurance before exam day

Including support with the new AQA changes, non-fiction reading, comparison skills and transactional writing.

📅 Wednesdays: 5pm–6pm
English Literature – Macbeth
Developing knowledge, analysis and confidence with this key GCSE text.

📅 Fridays: 5.15pm–6.15pm
KS3 English – 19th Century Texts
Building reading, vocabulary and analytical skills through classic literature.

📚 One last GCSE English exam to go… come and join us for the FINAL Night Before the Exam Walkthrough! ✨

The final GCSE English exam is nearly here: AQA English Language Paper 2, and my Night Before the Exam Walkthrough Session is designed to help students walk into the exam feeling calm, confident and clear on exactly what they need to do. It is on:

📅 Thursday 4th June at 5.30pm.

During the session I’ll walk students through the paper step-by-step and give them those all important final reminders before exam day.

We cover:
✔ Paper structure
✔ Timings and how to manage the paper
✔ Top tips for every question
✔ Mark scheme - what examiners are looking for
✔ Model responses
✔ Final confidence boost and reassurance before the big day

You’re not alone. This is exactly the moment when the right support can make a real difference.

Mocks often highlight gaps in understanding, exam technique or confidence. The good news? There is plenty of time between now and the summer exams to turn things around with focused, structured support.

From January, my English classes are designed to:
✨ Build confidence and remove anxiety
✨ Strengthen analysis of language, structure and form
✨ Improve exam technique so students know how to pick up marks
✨ Break down big marker questions into manageable, achievable steps
