In addition to providing outstanding additional sport and physical activity opportunities in partnership with Active Schools, the defining moment of the year for our Sporting Secondary School of the Year, was undoubtedly the South Lanarkshire County Sports.
Despite being the smallest of the 17 competing secondary schools, this school’s athletes defied the odds to dominate the competition.
Their students secured an impressive array of medals across track and field events, a collective effort that resulted in the school winning the prestigious South Lanarkshire Schools Shield for the highest overall score.
This victory stands as a testament to the incredible dedication and talent density within their student body.
This culture of excellence extends far beyond the athletics track.
On the court, their Senior Girls were crowned champions of the Clydesdale Netball Cup, while their rugby programme saw both S1 and S2 Boys and Girls squads qualify for the SPEN Championship Finals.
Their endurance athletes also excelled at the SL Cross Country Championships, securing Team Bronze medals in both the 2nd Year Girls and 3rd Year Boys categories.
The award was presented by Mhairi Lake, Active Schools Coordinator at South Lanarkshire Leisure & Culture.
