Been MIA for a bit, but still working away on things for now…. (More on that below) Here’s a project I've been excited to share! Finished this custom bench seating with storage at the start of the year for a dining room in Stockbridge. The grand plan is for a massive dining table to take center stage, surrounded by these beauties 🤙🏼

Just a heads up to any outstanding orders or customers looking to get things made. I’ll only be taking orders up unti April as after that I’ll be heading off on a long awaited trip. It will be an indefinite break so my last projects will be getting wrapped up before April, time to tie up loose ends 🤠

This was a very special commission from one of my customers, and one I was genuinely excited to take on. I was asked to design and build a wooden toy car garage for their son for Christmas—a chance for me to step into the role of Santa for a little while 🎅 I began by sketching out a design (Photo 6), imagining how the ramps, levels, and little details would all come together. Once the plan felt right, I moved on to crafting each component by hand, shaping and refining every piece before assembling the final structure 🛠

Of course, no toy garage is complete without a proper test run, so I put one of my old hot rods to work, making sure everything functioned smoothly and, most importantly, that it was fun. Seeing it gradually come to life was incredibly rewarding!

It was a wonderful experience to create something meant to spark imagination and joy. Thinking about the excitement of the kid who will unwrap this on Christmas Day made the whole process even more meaningful 🎁

I hope everyone has a blessed Christmas surrounded by the people they love, and may the season bring plenty of joy, laughter, and cherished memories 🎄

Back in October, I was hired to restore a customer’s old toy box from the 1960s—the one they had when they were a kid. They told me many fond stories about storing toys in it and hiding in it while playing hide-and-seek.

It had been left in a shed and had fallen into disrepair, with the lid snapped in half. They handed it over to me to see if I could bring it back to life so they could give it to one of their kids as a birthday present 🎁

This was a very enjoyable restoration, imagining the history of the toy box and all the fun it had seen over the years. It felt great to rejuvenate it and keep it alive for future generations to enjoy.

A custom oak bookshelf step 📚

I made this step for a customer in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago to go along with their bookshelves I made earlier in the year using the same white oak 🌳

The client was leaning towards a medieval aesthetic, which was incorporated into the bookshelves with hand-forged steel brackets paired with the natural bark of the oak's edge 🧙‍♀️

The stool itself is joined together with dado joints and dowels, with oak wedges to naturally tighten the dowels into the joint

Finished with three coats of a clear coat matt varnish 💫
