I always knew I wanted to work in a caring profession. My Dad was a GP, my Mum worked with SEN children in schools and Speech and Language Therapy felt like a good mix of health and education to me.

I left school and heading straight to University to study SLT as a vocational degree. I couldn’t stay away from home for long though and ended up back in North Devon to work and raise a family 💛

It’s always such a privilege to be let into families and work with their precious children and I am thankful every day that I get to do what I do!

💬 If my little clients could leave reviews…

What would they say about speech and language therapy? 👀

Some (fictional!) reviews from the people who really know what matters…

✨ Fun games
✨ Being the boss
✨ Silly sounds
✨ and apparently…too much tidying up

Totally stole this reel idea from but too good not to do my own!

When you touch base with an old client and hear how well they are doing 🥰

I love it when my kids teach me things! This week I learnt that our much played with magnet tiles and the duplo board I thought we’d grown out of are a fit!

Over here we love open ended toys and magnet tiles have been a consistent favourite for years. More ideas on how we play with them coming up…

Just call me the bag lady 😅

My visits are always so varied I never know what I’m going to need so…by the end of the day this is usually what my van looks like!

My kids are always well entertained on their way home from school though 😂

Did you know……..

…Even if I see your child at school or nursery when you aren’t present, I always try to send an email update to let you know how it went.

📩 This will include a little about how our session went and what practice to focus on between now and their next session.

We know therapy works best when it’s backed up at home and school in between direct sessions, so making sure everyone involved knows what to do is an important part of my role 🗣️

Little Signs, Big Difference ✨

This week’s sign is LOOK.

A simple sign like “look” can open up so many everyday opportunities for communication: from noticing something exciting, to sharing attention, to encouraging curiosity about the world around them.

When we give children a way to communicate before spoken words are fully there, we’re supporting connection, attention, language development, and confidence.

Whether you’re a parent, teacher, TA, or early years professional, using simple signs consistently in daily routines can make a really big difference.

✨ Try using LOOK alongside your spoken word throughout the week:

* “Look at the bird!”
* “Look what I found!”
* “Look, it’s a bus!”
* “Look at mummy/daddy!”

✅ As always: keep it playful, repeat it often and pair the sign with the spoken word every time!

Kids can be HARSH 😂

But honestly? I don’t mind. You never know what’s going to come out of their mouths next and there’s nothing more humbling than an honest review from a tiny human ☠️😂

Little Signs, Big Difference ✨

This week’s sign is WHERE.

A simple sign like “where” can open up so many everyday opportunities for communication: from asking about a favourite toy, to finding a person or place, to exploring the world around them.

When we give children a way to ask questions before spoken words are fully there, we’re supporting curiosity, reducing frustration, and building confidence, connection and understanding.

Whether you’re a parent, teacher, TA, or early years professional, using simple signs consistently in daily routines can make a really big difference.

✨ Try using WHERE alongside your spoken word throughout the week:

* “Where is your cup?”
* “Where is teddy?”
* “Where are we going?”
* “Where did it go?”

✅ As always: keep it playful, repeat it often and pair the sign with a word every time!
