What a lovely week Sunflowers have had, the sun has been shining and the children have continued to enjoy exploring forest school. They have been developing their whole body strength and have enjoyed setting up obstacle courses and exercise routines! The children have enjoyed showing photographs to show how they brush their teeth at home and brushing the teeth model and images in school. All of the children love to sit down with an adult and read a story - they have particularly enjoyed reading lifting the flap books and pop up books. We were really excited to welcome Layn Marlow for an author workshop on Thursday. Thank you to all of the parents who came along too!

What a lovely week we have had, the sun has been shining and the children have continued to enjoy exploring forest school. The children have been working hard to develop their hand strength - we work on developing this with both hands. The children have been squeezing playdough into sausages and balls with as much strength as they can use. They have enjoyed wrapping healthy foods up in foil and talking about their favourite foods. The children have been developing their mark making skills and have been working on creating horizontal lines - starting from left and moving to the right. We were really excited to welcome Layn Marlow for an author workshop on Thursday. Thank you to all of the parents who came along too!

This week, the Butterflies have been learning all about the importance of exercise and sleep. We have been creating our own HIIT workouts and trying them out with friends. We’ve read the story Peace at Last and have been using the story sack to retell the story.
On Tuesday, we had a fantastic visit from the author and illustrator Duncan Beedie. He read us his new book called A Holiday for Bear and then taught us how to draw a bear. The children listened to and followed his instructions so well.
In maths, we have been comparing different amounts and using the language of "more" and "fewer", and comparing what is the same and what is different. The children have been using this language in different areas of the classroom throughout the week.

Another fantastic week for the Butterflies! This week we have been learning all about our school community. We have been on a photo hunt around the school grounds, looked at photographs of the different staff at school, read The Colour Monster Goes to School, and thought about all the essential things we need to bring to school. In maths, we have been sorting various objects by looking closely at things that are the same and things that are different. On Tuesday morning, we had a lovely trip to the mobile library and were able to choose a book each to bring back to the classroom. We were also very lucky to have Mrs Manning and Chef Tom read to us. We look forward to welcoming lots of other members of staff to read over the next few weeks.

Sunflowers have loved getting out and about to Forest School this week, they particularly enjoyed a conker treasure hunt and searching for worms. The children have been learning about colours and have enjoyed reading Brown Bear, they have talked about all of the different animals and the colours that they have seen, They have enjoyed exploring colour mixing and mark making. Have a lovely weekend!

Wow what a fabulous week Caterpillars have had. We have been learning all about life at Nursery and being a Caterpillar. The children are really getting the hang of the routines and getting to know all of the adults in school. We have talked about kind hands and friends and how to collect and return - tidy up! The children enjoyed reading Lulu’s First Day and talking about what Lulu got up to at school. Have a lovely weekend.

🦋 Butterflies have enjoyed reading the story Sally and the Limpet. They have continued learning about rock pools and had a fabulous time at Westward Ho! The children got stuck into rock pooling and had a fabulous time learning about beaches at the Visitor Centre. The children have created their own Sally and the Limpet story books and enjoyed reading them to their friends. It is fabulous to see how far the children's fine motor skills have developed - they have created some really unique clay starfish.

🐛 This week, the Caterpillars have been learning about lighthouses and have been reading The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch. They have had wonderful fun constructing and exploring pulleys and have been talking about how Mr Grinling feels at different stages of the story. The children have continued to develop their junk modelling skills and have created some fabulous junk model lighthouses. We have flashed back to forming horizontal lines and the children have used their mark making skills to draw and decorate their own lighthouses.

🌻 The children in sunflowers this week have enjoyed exploring different bugs. They’ve created their own spotty ladybird; explored the bugs in the ‘grass’; and used their fine motor skills to pick up the worms. They have been amazing at recognising different habitats and which bugs might live where, as well as playing ‘hide the bugs’ around the room. Some of us even went for a little bug hunt in the outdoor learning space too.
