📸 Are you interested in photography?

We have an exciting opportunity for a one-year mentoring programme with professional, award-winning photographer Mark Kensett.

Starting in September, you’ll learn a range of photography skills and techniques, such as looking at the story through the eyes of the subject and understanding light and composition. This will all be done through hands-on mentoring

The aim is for you to become a volunteer photographer with Edukid, supporting our work throughout the year and beyond.

You must be 18 or over.

Westward Ho craft market today, come down and say hi and get yourselves some beautiful crafts by local artists, coffee and cake. Thanks so much to Dan and Lucy for helping out today 🩷

Hi everyone! 😊 We’re looking for some help at our craft market this Tuesday.

Unfortunately, one of our volunteers is no longer able to make it, so we’re hoping to find 2 x volunteers who could help with serving cake and coffee. The event is at Westward Ho! Baptist Church from 11:00am–3:30pm.

We know it’s short notice, but if you’re available and able to lend a hand, we’d be so grateful. All money from the coffee and cake will be donated to Edukid 🩷

It’s been a busy few days for the Edukid team staying on for the longer trip 🇺🇬 Here are the highlights from the last 3 days in Gulu!

Tuesday we went back to Bonga to learn their skills. The group learnt how to use the foot pedal sewing machines to make skirts, cooked chapati, learnt to braid hair, and how to build a brick wall.

Wednesday we visited Gulu high school and Gulu primary blind annex learning about their inclusive education and the inspiring stories of students with visual impairments. The group learnt how to use orbital readers and read some braille.

Thursday the group visited Gulu university and toured their agricultural faculty. Learnt about how they make honey, grow mushrooms, and rear chickens and rabbits! Thursday afternoon we visited the tailoring project to learn to make paper beads and weave baskets.

It’s been a fun week! We are now back in Entebbe ready for a relaxing pool day tomorrow, ready for our journey home on Sunday!

Lots of fun with the Bonga girls on Saturday! 💙

The group visited the Bonga girls centre, played lots of games including twister, bracelet making, football matches and spikeball!

The Bonga girls are a group of girls who have previously been denied access to education, so the group were able to hear their stories and struggles, as well as meeting previous graduates to hear how this programme has changed their life!

We said our goodbyes to the in county team, with this lovely group photo, before heading the National park & we have lots of lovely photos to share next 🐘 ☀️ 🦒!!
