Kingsley School Bideford, a single campus co-educational Boarding
and Day school for pupils aged 3 to 18, is committed to discovering,
nurturing and celebrating the talents and achievements of each and
every one of its pupils. This commitment makes it the ideal school
for families who believe that every child is an individual, worthy of
individual attention and encouragement. Perfect location

Kingsley’s location in the maritime market town of Bideford, in the
heart of the beautiful South West region of the UK, is almost
picture-perfect: set in 25 acres of playing fields, gardens and woods,
the school is a stone’s throw from the stunning surf beaches of
North Devon and within easy reach of Exmoor and Dartmoor
national parks. Outstanding academic performance
Kingsley students consistently achieve excellent results in public examinations. GCSE results are 50% higher than the national average and more than 90% of Kingsley sixth formers go on to university. The curriculum is broad and includes Sports and creative subjects such as Music, Drama and Art. Every effort is made to enable each student to study the combination of subjects of his or her choice. Brilliant Dyslexia provision
The Learning Development Centre, with a distinguished UK-wide
reputation, earned and maintained for decades, is situated
within – and is very much part of – Kingsley School. Three
members of staff ensure that our dyslexic students achieve their
full potential - which is often way beyond previous expectations –
and are totally integrated into every aspect of school life, inside
and outside the classroom. The Director of the Grenville Dyslexia
Centre, Mandy Bateman, is always happy to answer questions and
offer advice. Extra-curricular activities
Matching the breadth of the academic subjects is an exceptional range of sports and other activities available to every student of every ability level. Many of the outdoor activities take advantage of the school’s wonderful location…surfing and rowing are extremely popular, while Dartmoor provides the dramatic setting for the annual Ten Tors Challenge. Kingsley’s netball, gymnastics and judo squads consistently win major competitions. The Kingsley Judo Academy has a unique partnership with the University of Bath, enabling Kingsley’s elite judo players to benefit from the celebrated Team Bath training resources. The school’s Drama and Music Departments stage a series of
outstanding events throughout the year, while the Duke of Edinburgh
Awards programme is always popular. Home from Home Boarding
Kingsley Boarders enjoy excellent accommodation, good food, a
secure and happy environment and a well-planned programme of social activities. Everything is supervised by our Head of Boarding and his team of Houseparents and resident staff, all of whom are dedicated to providing an “extended family” atmosphere. The celebrations aren’t over yet. GCSE results day — and our Year 11s have delivered. 🎓🧡

For the second week running, Kingsley sits in the top 25% of schools nationally for academic achievement. Our girls are in the top 10% nationally. Our non-SEND students are in the top 10%. And our students with SEND support have beaten all national averages — sitting comfortably in the top 40% of all students in the UK. That last one means an enormous amount to us.

🏆 Music and Drama — top 3% nationally
🏆 MFL and Combined Science — top 10% nationally
🏆 Music — 85% of grades at 7 to 9
🏆 Vocational — 100% pass rate

And a very special mention to Emily, who achieved nine grade 9s. Nine. Congratulations also to Emily Jane, Bessie, Charlotte, Henry, Elise, Xavier, Elsie and Stepan — outstanding results across the board.

Well done to every single Year 11 student. The hard work paid off — in some style.

Not yet part of the Kingsley family? This is a fantastic story to be part of. Come and see us — we’d love to show you around.

Results day. And what a day. 🎓🧡

For the second successive year, Kingsley has beaten its own A-level and vocational records. We are now officially in the top 25% of schools across England and Wales — state and independent — for academic achievement, as measured by ALPS.

The detail is just as impressive:

🏆 Sports Science and English Literature — top 3% nationally
🏆 Art, History, Maths, Spanish and Business — top 10% nationally
🏆 Sports Science — every single student achieved a Distinction Star, the equivalent of an A*
🏆 Modern Foreign Languages — 100% of results A* to B
🏆 Art — 50% of all grades A*
🏆 Leo’s artwork was singled out by the OCR examination board as one of the finest submissions in the entire country

Individual results to be enormously proud of — Mia, Summer, Sam, Oli, Grace, Leo, Max and Jonny: you did it.

And to cap it all — 100% of students have so far secured places at their first or second choice university.

This belongs to our students, our staff, and every parent who backed them every step of the way. What an extraordinary year group.

Year 12 is now full for September 2026. Interested in Sixth Form for September 2027? Take a look at our Autumn Open Days

Five unforgettable days, countless memories and a huge inspiration for the future of judo.

Kingsley School was proud to host the 17th John Davies Western Area & England Judo International Summer Training Camp, welcoming judoka from clubs across the UK for an incredible experience that blended world-class coaching with fun, adventure and lifelong friendships.

From our roots at Grenville College through to today's thriving Kingsley Sports Pathway, judo has remained at the heart of our sporting journey. This camp reflects our vision of developing not only better athletes, but confident, resilient and ambitious young people.

Our athletes were privileged to learn from an outstanding coaching team including Japanese legend and three-time Olympic medallist Yoko Tanabe, Commonwealth Games medallists Lele and Ethan Nairne, England Coach Pete Douglas, Ben Almond, Karl Found from FC Rise Strength & Conditioning, who delivered an exciting athletic development programme, and our yoga specialist Christianne, whose recovery session highlighted the importance of athlete wellbeing.

A highlight once again was our surfing experience with Surf Up and Rob's fantastic team of instructors at Westward Ho!, giving many judoka the chance to challenge themselves beyond the dojo and build confidence in a completely new environment.

A huge thank you to every coach, volunteer, parent and, most importantly, every judoka who made the camp such a special occasion.

As Camp Director and Kingsley Head Coach Simon Ward reflected:

"Even after 17 years, this camp continues to inspire me. Watching young people grow in confidence, embrace new challenges and build friendships is what makes this experience so special. The future of judo is incredibly bright."

Here's to an amazing 2026 camp... and we can't wait to welcome everyone back for Camp 18! 💙🥋

MAN OF THE MATCH 🏉💗

A huge congratulations to Sam Bola on being named our Man of the Match against Perak Rugby.

In tough conditions and a game that demanded plenty physically, Sam put in a huge shift. Every carry was direct, his work rate never dropped, and he kept fronting up right until the final whistle.

A performance that summed up what this team is all about. Fully deserved, Sam. Congratulations! 👏
