We are so excited to share our biggest project yet! We will be launching with the school: the creation of a dedicated outdoor classroom. The proposal has been developed by the BSA and would provide a purpose-built learning space where pupils can learn, explore and thrive in an outdoor environment throughout the year.
The vision is to create a weather-resistant outdoor classroom that can be used for a wide range of activities, including curriculum lessons, Forest School sessions, enrichment opportunities, wellbeing activities, community events and during wet playtimes.
The proposed location is on the unlevelled area of the school field alongside the boundary fence. This means the school would still retain the majority of the level section of the field for playtimes and football, ensuring that pupils continue to benefit from these opportunities. The outdoor classroom would make productive use of a space that is currently less suitable for sporting activities.
The project is expected to cost approximately £40,000 and will require a combination of fundraising, grants, sponsorship and community support to bring it to life. The BSA has already begun exploring funding opportunities and will be organising a range of fundraising events during the coming year.
There will be many ways to get involved, whether through donations, business sponsorship, volunteering expertise, supporting fundraising events or simply helping to spread the word. Every contribution, no matter how large or small, will help create a lasting resource that will benefit generations of Bickleigh school children.
Together, we have an opportunity to create something special for our children and wider school community.
