Founded in 1989 by husband and wife team Chris and Janey Poole, Oxford Ed has grown to be the biggest and undoubtedly the best supplier of maths educational technology in the UK and beyond!
Our mission remains the same today as it was way back in 1989; to find ways and means by which new technologies can help the teaching and learning of maths and science. This has led to very close and successful working relationships with global brands, principally Casio Electronics, Texas Instruments and, in the science field, Fourier Education and Vernier.
We aim to offer our customers products that match perfectly the learning needs of pupils and students, are innovative and offer new, more effective ways to address teaching challenges. Innovations such as the graphical calculator, Computerised Algebra Software (CAS) and geometry software on computer and handheld devices are all tools now well established in schools, all of which were brought to market by Oxford Educational Supplies.
The directors work with government and awarding bodies to ensure product suitability to changing syllabuses and probably talk daily to more maths teachers than any other single institution, giving invaluable insight into the needs of maths education.
Currently serving most UK schools and universities, IB schools throughout the world there remain many fascinating challenges in products and support. The future may well see online training for teachers, new interactions to help product design and a continued flow of technology affordable by all. We will encourage an active maths community using social media and we will continue to enjoy supporting our chosen charities, including Forever Angels in Tanzania and In the meantime, we will strive to deliver the best service and the most appropriate products that offer the very best value!
