"At the core of my heart is service to others and seeing people enjoying their life. We often don't receive the skills and mindset to help us on our life journey because of generational traumas. That's why most of us to can't enjoy life fully but instead suffer in silence on a daily basis plagued by anxiety, overthinking, self-doubt, lack of confidence, negative self-talk, being afraid of others, hating oneself, struggling to see own value and love oneself or slipping into depression. Permanent change of life - that’s where my expertise sits. I facilitate an innovative process of discovery, processing and re-learning which requires your engagement and commitment to get results. I am grateful for my path in life and the transformation that I provide to others." Sonia Axis

You can feel “fine” socially and still collapse afterwards because your nervous system paid a price in the background. This isn’t a motivation problem—it’s usually a pattern: over-attuning, suppressing discomfort, performing competence, or disconnecting to cope. In this article, we get specific about why social energy drains you and what to do differently so you stop repeating the same pressure response. A painful truth: you can respect someone and still not be able to build a life with them.

Self-aware people get stuck here.

They can see the other person’s goodness.
They mean well.
They try.
They aren’t cruel.

So the mind makes a moral argument:
“If they’re a good person, I shouldn’t want more.”

But “good person” is a character assessment.
It is not the same as fit.

Fit is what you can repeatedly experience:
consistency
reciprocity
emotional availability
repair
shared reality
capacity to meet your needs without you shrinking to access them

A mismatch doesn’t require betrayal.
Sometimes it’s simply an incompatibility of nervous systems, values, pace, or capacity.

The hidden contradiction is this:
You can admire who they are,
and still feel yourself becoming smaller inside the relationship.

You don’t need a dramatic reason to choose what fits.
You need honesty.

Are you staying because it works—or because leaving would make you feel “bad”?

Most people don’t want a partner.
They want a mind reader.

They want to feel understood without having to risk clarity.

But the strongest relationships aren’t built on perfect attunement.
They’re built on repair.

Because rupture is inevitable.
Two nervous systems will miss each other.
Someone will misread tone.
Someone will go sharp.
Someone will go quiet.
Someone will protect themselves.

The difference is what happens next.

In fragile relationships, rupture becomes threat:
silence, defensiveness, punishment, pretending it didn’t happen.

In strong relationships, rupture becomes information:
they return, they acknowledge impact, they adjust behaviour, they rebuild trust through follow-through.

Repair is not a conversation.
Repair is a behavioural shift you can experience.

If your relationship requires one of you to always be “understanding” and the other to never be “too much,” that isn’t emotional safety.
That’s emotional management.

Can your relationship survive honesty after a hard moment—or does it rely on you staying quiet?

In case you’d like to experience a sound bath from the comfort of your own home, here’s one from me ☺️✨

A sound bath can be deeply relaxing, but it can also be a therapeutic experience. As you settle into the sounds, emotions, sensations or memories may naturally come to the surface.

There’s nothing you need to do with any of it. Simply allow yourself to receive the sound and notice what arises. And if your mind is busy, that’s completely okay too — you don’t need to clear your mind for the experience to be beneficial.

🧘‍♀️ Find somewhere comfortable, give yourself some uninterrupted time, and allow the sounds to wash over you.

Please note: sound healing is not appropriate for people with epilepsy, a pacemaker, or Ménière’s disease.

If you are pregnant, I recommend waiting until after your baby is born before experiencing sound healing.

Enjoy ✨☺️

Insight isn’t the problem. In couples counselling, “we understand why” can quietly become a way to avoid the behaviours that keep creating the same rupture under pressure. The real work is learning how each person responds in the moment—what gets defended, what gets shut down, what gets escalated, and what needs to change without blame or denial. When a dynamic feels unstable, we almost always default to the same internal check:

"But I know they care about me."

We gather evidence of their loyalty. We point to their intentions. We convince ourselves that because the feeling exists inside them, the relationship must be fundamentally safe.

We use their internal emotion as an excuse to tolerate our external reality.

But you are asking the wrong question.

The fact that an emotion exists inside someone else’s head is completely useless to your nervous system if it never translates into an action you can actually feel.

The real metric is not the existence of the feeling. It is the logistics of the delivery.

How is their care actually arriving in your life?

Someone can hold a massive amount of love for you, but completely lack the behavioral capacity to show up, attune to your reality, or regulate themselves enough to offer you consistency.

When you only ask if they care, you are managing their reality.
When you look at how that care arrives, you are finally honoring your own.

Stop auditing their intentions.

If their care requires you to decode their silence, manage their defensiveness, or abandon your own needs just to feel a momentary connection, the existence of their love is no longer the issue.

What truth are you avoiding by focusing on how they feel, rather than what they do?

If your mind won’t switch off, “thinking less” won’t fix what’s already become a survival pattern. This piece is for adults who can identify their triggers and wounds—but still repeat the same behaviours under pressure, exhausting their nervous system and their relationships. You’ll learn how focus training works when you’re overthinking, not to quiet you, but to help you respond with precision instead of panic. There is a unique kind of exhaustion that happens when you are with someone who is deeply perceptive, but completely inconsistent.

You have a conversation. They look at you, identify exactly what you need, and validate your reality perfectly. You feel a massive drop in anxiety. You think, "Finally, we are on the same page."

But a week later, they act as if that exchange never occurred.

We make the mistake of measuring a person's capacity by the depth of a single, highly attuned moment. We assume that because they could access that level of empathy once, they are capable of building a life there.

But insight is just an event. Connection is an ongoing environment.

When someone can map your internal world but refuses to adapt their daily choices to it, the relief of the conversation quickly turns into systemic fatigue. It is often more destabilising to be seen perfectly and then disregarded, than to be with someone who simply doesn't understand.

You don't have a communication issue. You are facing a lack of continuity.

Some people use their ability to deeply comprehend you as a substitute for the effort of actually changing. The profound conversation is a defense mechanism; it buys them time without requiring behavioral adaptation.

You do not need a partner who can solve your emotional puzzle in one sitting. You need a baseline where that data is carried forward into the next day.

Are you holding onto the one time they got it right, instead of looking at what they do the rest of the week?

The problem is not always the silence.

Sometimes, the problem is the complete lack of acknowledgment after the silence.

When an argument gets heated, it is completely normal to need space. A flooded nervous system cannot communicate effectively. Withdrawing to regulate yourself is a valid, necessary tool.

But the damage in relationships rarely happens during the withdrawal.

The damage happens when they walk back into the room three hours later and ask, "What are we doing for dinner?"

They act like nothing happened. They want to fast-forward past the discomfort and get straight back to the "safe" part of the relationship.

They think they are restoring peace.
They are actually demanding amnesia.

Silence is a regulation strategy. But ignoring the silence afterward is a relational failure.

When you return without bridging the gap, you force the other person to make an impossible choice: drag the conflict back out and be the "difficult" one, or suppress their own reality just to reconnect with you.

You cannot have a deep relationship if your primary conflict resolution strategy is pretending the conflict didn't happen.

You are allowed to take space. You are allowed to be quiet.
But you have to own the return.

Are you actually repairing the rupture, or are you just relying on them to let it go?

When leaders are under pressure, the problem usually isn’t effort—it’s how the nervous system runs the show and how old patterns hijack decision-making, communication, and self-trust. This piece breaks down what executive coaching actually targets: regulation, emotional processing, and behaviour that changes in real meetings—not just in theory. If you’ve done the learning but keep repeating the same loop, you’ll recognise the dynamics and feel clear on what has to shift. Full article link in the bio | holisticaxis.com
