Laughter, Relief, and Big Ambitions: The Cooper School Celebrates GCSE Results Day
Year 11 students gather to collect their qualifications, marking the end of five memorable years with individual triumphs, shared support, and exciting next steps.
The Cooper School, Bicester — This morning, the silence of a school site in August was broken by whoops, cheers, and occasional tears of delight at The Cooper School, as Year 11 students returned to collect their GCSE results. After weeks of waiting, students tore open their envelopes alongside classmates, family members, and teachers who gathered in the main hall to share the moment. Today’s results reflect five years of determination and personal growth, creating a school community that cares deeply about the individual stories of its students.
From individual subject breakthroughs to stellar top marks, every outcome celebrated today represents countless hours studying, early morning revision sessions, and quiet perseverance.
"What stands out to me today isn’t just the numbers on a sheet of paper — it’s the character of these young people. They’ve dared to dream big, put in the hard yards when it mattered most, and above all, stayed remarkably kind and supportive to one another through the stress of exam season. I couldn’t be prouder of the people they’ve become, and I can't wait to welcome many of them back to continue their studies with us in our 6th form."
— Charlotte Broom, Headteacher
Among those celebrating today are Ieva A and Josie B, who both got a full suite of grade 9s, 8s and 7s. An impressive achievement.
Fellow student Jackson W is also celebrating today having secured some great results in his core subjects, after a huge amount of work.
These are just three of the many success stories at The Cooper School this morning with 57% of students securing 4+ in both English and Maths.
As envelopes are folded up and students head off to celebrate with friends and family, the school turns its focus to the start of next academic year, as it embarks on a journey of new leadership, rapid improvement and the continuous and deep care for the stories of growth in the student community.
