Today in the Ladybird Room we have been practicing our fine motor skills by threading paper straws through holes in a cardboard box.

The children enjoy poking the coloured straws through the different sized holes and trying to pull them back through.

This week we started our Rugby sessions again with coach Rob .
We had an amazing time in the park, practicing our balls skills and learning lots of new ways to move our bodies. We particularly enjoyed bouncing the rugby balls on the parachute and matching coloured cones to the correct coloured hoops.
It was also a great opportunity for us to practice our listening ears in our new outdoor surroundings.
Maybe at home you could explore some different ways of moving, or even join in with some races with your family members.

This week in Nursery we welcomed back our dance teacher Lisa . We all had so much fun learning lots of new moves and practicing our listening skills. We also had the opportunity to explore our feelings and took part in some mimes using our happy and grumpy faces.
Maybe at home you could explore some movement to some of your favourite songs and nursery rhymes.

Today in Pre-school we have been exploring numbers. We used the number stencils in the playdough to create our own number prints. This sparked lots of conversation about the names of each number, we then extended this by looking at the quantises that matched each number by rolling out the correct amount of balls for each number.
The children were able to practice lots of mathematical language during the activity and used their exploratory skills.
At home maybe you could go on a number hunt in your house and see all the places that you can find numbers.

Today is the last day at Nursery for some children, they decided that they wanted to play board games. We have been playing a range of different games with each other and have been practicing our sharing and turn taking skills. We all had lots of fun.

The children in Pre-school love our African Land Snails and have been asking lots of questions about the way in which they move. We decided to let the snails have an explore, which gave us a lovely opportunity to observe them closely, with some of us being brave enough to actually hold them. We then went on a bug hunt in the garden to see if we could find any garden snails to compare to the African Land Snails.

Maybe at home, you could go on a snail hunt in the garden or on a walk to see how many bugs or snails you could find

This week in pre-school we have enjoyed making a shop. The children experienced buying and selling vegetables to each other, they also used lots of boxes to stack the shelves of the shop. The children then decided they wanted to explore the vegetables more by chopping them up and looking inside them. Some of the children then extended this to make a soup. They added water to the mixture of chopped vegetables and gave them a good stir. The children were really engaged in the activity and showed lots of passion when creating their “soup”. The activity was also a fantastic opportunity for the development of social skills as well as communication and language between each other.

At home, the children could help prepare some vegetables for mealtimes with supervision from a grown-up.

Dinosaur Feet Printing.
Today we have been Dinosaur feet painting with brown and green paint. The children dabbed the dinosaurs in the paint then created marks across the paper. The children also used their fingers to swirl and mix the paint together in the tray and on the paper.

Why don’t you see if you can create your own animal collages at home using animals and different coloured paint.
