Headteacher Mr Tipping welcomed ex councillor Becky Vale into nursery this week to celebrate our one year anniversary and to thank her for her generous donation towards these steps. We are so pleased to have these steps which provide a safe way to access the mud kitchen at the top of the slope. It also gives children an opportunity to master steps, starting with two feet to a step, to one foot to each step and then to carry an object as they ascend and descend. The children this week have loved using them and we have already seen a difference in their independence outside.

We love our cooking sessions with our school cook Mrs Forrester. The children love going over to the ‘big school’ to find out what delicious food they are going to be making.

Nursery children had lots of fun on Red Nose Day. The children raised money by donating money to come dressed in red or as a superhero. Our fancy dress winner was a dressed as a doctor. She explained ‘not all superhero’s wear capes‘😊. The children enjoyed taking part in the school challenge of dancing to ‘superman’ and later the children printed and decorated their own red nose characters. There was a talent competition and we had entries from children singing and showing their trampoline skills. The winner sang the ‘a, b, c’ and was chosen by our head teacher Mr Tipping. All in all it was a fantastic fun day!

The nursery children were excited when Mrs Sutherland our school chair of governors came dressed as a scientist to set up an experiment as part of British Science Week. She asked the children to tell her what they thought plants needed to grow. She then helped the children place beans in different conditions. We are now looking forward to finding out which bean grows the best and will talk about why this has happened.

Thank you to Sarah from Summerdyne Nursing Home for donating plants to our nursery. The children have enjoyed the responsibility of taking care of them. We look forward to when we are able to visit.
