We are excited to invite clarinet and saxophone players to take part in the RBC Single Reed Roadshow 2026, a free event hosted by East Riding Music Service as part of the Humber Hub partnership. The roadshow is designed for students playing at Grade 5 standard and above and offers a fantastic opportunity to work with staff and students from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Date: Tuesday 6 October 2026
Time: 5:00pm – 8:00pm
Venue: The Hexagon Music Centre, Coltman Avenue, Beverley, HU17 9LP
During the evening, participants will work with Douglas Mitchell (Associate Head of Woodwind) and David Zucchi (Head of Saxophone), alongside conservatoire students, taking part in:
Fun and engaging warm-up activities
Instrument-specific workshops for clarinet and saxophone players
Massed ensemble rehearsals
A relaxed performance for family and friends at the end of the session
This is a wonderful opportunity to develop musical skills, meet other young musicians from across the region, and gain valuable experience working with expert performers and teachers.

🎧 AN INCREDIBLE DAY AT SPOTIFY HQ! 🎶

On Thursday 9 July, a group of our talented young musicians travelled to London for an unforgettable day at Spotify’s UK headquarters, celebrating the incredible work of the Youth Music Open Doors Fund.

From an access-all-areas tour of Spotify’s offices to inspiring creative sessions, live performances, industry discussions and opportunities to connect with professional artists and promoters, the whole experience was absolutely phenomenal!

Our young people gained a fascinating insight into the music industry, explored the many different careers available to them and heard directly from people working at the very heart of the business. Most importantly, they were encouraged to think big, believe in their creativity and recognise that a future in music is absolutely within their reach.

We could not be prouder of how brilliantly they represented East Riding Music Service. Their enthusiasm, confidence and professionalism were outstanding from start to finish.

A huge thank you to Spotify and Youth Music for opening their doors and creating such a powerful, inspiring and potentially life-changing opportunity for the next generation of artists and music-industry professionals.

What another amazing few days for East Riding Music Service students. Saturday saw stand out performances at the National Festival of Music For Youth in Birmingham for the East Riding Senior Wind Band and Percussion Ensemble. Then is was over to Burton Constable Hall for all our bands to play at the stunning venue as part of the Roll Royce's club 50th anniversary. More success at the Hornsea festival. Luke came 1st with his viola 12 and under class and 2nd in the 12&13 violin class. Well done to Luke and thanks to Mr Brewster his teacher.

What a night at Bridlington Spa!
Huge congratulations to all the young musicians who performed at the East Riding Music Service 2026 Battle of the Bands. The standard was incredible, with original music, confident performances and a brilliant live atmosphere.
