What I do
I provide one to one tuition to students of all ages, specialising in Maths and English. I also provide tuition support for students with dyslexia, and other special educational needs. After 30 years' of teaching in a variety of education settings, including nurseries, schools, colleges and Universities, I continue to embrace a passion for learning. My own experience of overcoming a lack of confidence in my Maths abilities also means that I can relate to those students who may be struggling with their studies. I am committed to delivering an educational benefit to each of my students. High quality tutoring is not only about what students learn, it is also about how they learn. Acknowledging the importance of the process of learning in reaching learning targets is the reason that all of my students are able to reach their maximum learning potential.

The big advantage of 1:1 tuition is that it presents the ideal opportunity to build a positive rapport with each student. It is always rewarding when I see my students beaming as they master and apply new skills! Of course, there is no magic wand - each student can only progress at their own pace of learning. I can help students to make the learning journey from where they are to where they would like to be. While it may sometimes be necessary to revisit previous learning before making progress, I enable students to build on their strengths and interests.
