Final Day for the final summer Youth Camp! 🧑🏻‍🎓 ⛺

Though Friday was a few days ago, we still wanted to share the final photos from an incredible week!

The participants had a go at scrambling, enjoyed a walk around the local woodlands and had a mindfulness moment next to a lake. 🥾🧗🏻🧘🏻

A massive shout out to our wonderful young people who made the week amazing, for us and them 🤸🏻🥳🙏🏻

Adventures in Eryri Day 4 ☑️

Today's activity was conservation! 🥾🐢🚯♻️

As a Keep Wales Tidy hub we gathered together our litter pickers, rubbish bags, and gloves and headed to Criccieth.
These incredible young people worked diligently and collected a massive 5 full bags of litter from the beach, a huge feat of hard work. 🚯

List of some of the interesting items found:
- a cassette
- a double air bed
- a sole of a shoe
- an ice cream lid from Spain

🐳🪼Though we had fun on the task, it was an important reminder how even doing a little bit we can help remove the plastics from our oceans, making it safer for all the wonderful sea creatures. 🦭 🐠

Our young people have immersed themselves in gorge walking 🌊, braved a wet and windy wild camp ⛺, and created unbelievable shelters for natural materials 🌳🪵

We can't believe we're already over half way through this course, we're loving every second of it! 🤸🏻

With team challenges, robot races, and ice breakers our participants have eagerly jumped straight into the activities of this week. 🤖 🌍

Today marks the end of the first of our summer youth camps! 🌎🏕️

Diolch yn fawr to all of the young people who attended the courses and also gave their all to getting stuck in with every activity! ⛰️🌳 We have loved every minute of leading you around Eryri.

Youth Camps Day 4 ☑️
We cannot believe we have completed our penultimate day, what a week it's been! 🤸🏻

🌺Today the Adventures in Eryri group identified their small mammals captured in the Longworth traps 🐁; they were champions of the Himalayan Balsam Bashing conservation day with Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri - Eryri National Park ; and thoroughly enjoyed some time to kick back and play frisbee and football in Betws-y-coed.🥏⚽

⛏️🪨The Geography and Geology group visited the historic Dinorwig quarry in Llanberis. They studied the geology of Yr Wyddfa and Llanberis and how geological processes created the slate the area is world famous for. They were even visited by the wild Eryri goats 🐐🐐

Everyone ended the day with a BBQ and a campfire 🔥

Youth Camps Day 2 & Day 3 ☑️☑️

🌄🪨Participants from the Geography & Geology camp visited the incredible landscape of Cwm Idwal; debated the importance of the ecological, cultural, and geological aspects of this area; and enjoyed a trip through the gorge! 🌊🌼

⛺🥾Meanwhile the Adventures in Eryri camp also enjoyed a gorge trip; hiked and camped within the Carneddau mountains; created some incredible shelters; and set Longworth traps to study conservation of small mammals! 🌊🐁

Youth Camps Day 1 ☑️
Participants set objectives for the week, tackled team building challenges, enjoyed researching the history of Eryri, and were warmly welcomed by our very cute and fluffy committee 🐕🐕

🍀Six months of incredible fieldwork, learning and adventure 🍀

🌍From geography and environmental science to biology, adventure courses, and adult learning. 🌍
It's been a fantastic first half of 2026 getting out into the field, exploring environments, facilitating learning, and building real-world skills. 🍀

A huge thank you to the groups for your enthusiasm, curiosity, and resilience- we can't wait to welcome many more of you in the coming months. 🦋🔍
