5 ways yoga changes how you see yourself

Swipe through. Five small shifts that build over time, not overnight.

None of them are about getting better at a pose. They're about what happens within, how you carry yourself, how you talk to yourself, and what you start to notice instead of judging.

If any of these feel familiar or overdue, come and try it on the mat. Class times and booking link in bio.

What does your inner mirror show you?

We all carry an inner mirror. But it isn't always honest.

Sometimes it's warped by old stories, by comparison, by a voice that formed long before you ever stepped onto a mat. It shows you flaws that aren't really there and skips straight past what's actually worth noticing.

On the mat, this shows up quietly. In a headstand that wobbles. In a pose that used to come easily and doesn't today. In the moment you catch yourself judging your body for what it can't do yet, instead of noticing what it's already carried you through.

Yoga doesn't hand you a new mirror. It softens the voice holding the old one. Slowly, practice becomes less about achieving a shape and more about noticing how you speak to yourself while you try.

What would change if the voice describing you back to yourself was a little kinder?

I'd love to know, tell me in the comments.

If this is the kind of slow, nature-led gathering you'd love to be part of, drop a comment or send a message. Future dates are already taking shape.

Yoga teaches us to be grounded, to do less and simply be. Our afternoon at Leith Hill Place was exactly that practice.

We moved slowly through gentle postures to settle the nervous system, then walked into the trees with Catherine McCusker for a guided forest bathing session, and finished with cream tea in good company.

No rushing. No agenda beyond noticing. Just movement, breath, trees and tea.

If you missed this one, it won't be the last. Save this post if you'd like to hear when the next event date lands.

Incredibly sad to hear an avalanche in China has broken flooding towns and villages along the Trisuli River, Nepal.

You may think this post is out of place with my others. BUT, through marriage, I have a wonderful Nepalese family who I am visiting soon.

I will keep you updated with my adventures. Expect great views, family connections, fun with language barriers, and much more...

For now, I hope everyone is safe and as well as they can be. 🙏

There is something about moving your body under trees that a studio floor can never quite give you.

Last Friday we gathered at Leith Hill Place for an afternoon of slow movement, forest bathing and cream tea, and it reminded me why this work matters so much to me. We stretched, we breathed, we slowed right down until the only rhythm left was the one already around us.

Forest bathing led by the wonderful , movement held by me, and cream tea to finish because rest deserves a reward too.

More gatherings like this are coming. If mornings in nature, moving gently and doing very little else sound like your kind of medicine, keep an eye on this space.

Meditation isn’t about forcing the mind to be quiet — it’s learning how to meet yourself with steadiness, even when thoughts are present.
If you’ve tried before and felt like it wasn’t “working”, you’re not doing anything wrong. There’s a gentler way in.

This Sunday, we’ll explore mantra, chakra visualisation, and meditation as simple, supportive techniques you can return to whenever you need grounding.

Book via Bookwhen.

What a week in Dalyan actually looks like.

Mornings that begin gently, with breakfast taken care of so there's nothing to think about before you've even started the day. Yoga, twice daily, at whatever pace your body wants that day. Two boat trips out on the water, lunch and dinner shared together as you go. A full day built in just for rest, sand underfoot and the sea close by. A massage to unwind whatever you're still carrying by the end of the week.

This is what a retreat is meant to feel like. Not another itinerary to keep up with, but a week where everything is held for you.

Booking for this October's trip closes 16th August. Link in bio if you're ready to say yes.
