NEWS FROM THE SEA!
What a spectacular few days at sea! ๐๐
Despite rough weather, our monitoring has produced some incredible wildlife encounters. We've recorded porpoises, 10 minke whales (including one that stayed close alongside the boat), and 53 common dolphins that delighted us by surfing the bow wave. The hydrophone also captured the sounds of dolphins chattering alongside the unmistakable snaps of shrimp beneath the waves.
Birdlife has been just as impressive, with a white-tailed sea eagle, a magnificent Arctic skua, gannets, guillemots, terns, shearwaters and many more species observed throughout the trip.
We sheltered in the beautiful waters of Loch na Keal before travelling under sail - with the engine off for most of the journey - a fantastic way to experience the marine environment. After anchoring off Corr for the night, the crew headed ashore to explore the rugged coastline before rounding off another memorable day (with Sam and Ben on macaroni duty! ๐ค).
Wild seas, unforgettable wildlife and another brilliant reminder of just how special our west coast waters are. ๐๐ฌ
